**Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti Review Thread**

The 290x has NEVER been 50% faster than the top nVidia card with the same power usage.

It was actually a wash with the titan at higher power usage, then slower than the 780ti with higher power usage.

980ti is 50% faster than 290x with the same power, and a MUCH better reference cooler than anything AMD ever thought up meaning it can actually keep cool without deafening you.
True the 290x was hot used more power but couldn't beat nvidia cards using less tdp

If someone sold a Ford fiesta that got 35mpg, I'd laugh at it and call it uneconomical.

If someone sold a Bugatti Veyron that got 35mpg, I'd think it was amazing, well designed, economical, and a miracle of engineering.

Exactly, you fastly improved my analogy also!

Anyone selling it yet? Up on any shops? Or will I actually have to wait until tomorrow to order? lol

lol. Nicely said :)

You're the troll here Harlequin. and I have the ultimate quote relating to you ;)

“Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.”

I won't be replying to any more of your 'insightful' posts :p

Lets be honest here Jedi, even if the 290x was 30-40% faster the nvidia folks would have made the same tiring jokes over and over again, that it needs a nuclear plant, that it is as hot as the sun. The argument for the "980ti being hot equals okay" is the performance increase in games but that argument can be flipped around as we all know that the 290/290x has more performance to offer than even a 980ti outside of gaming in certain applications. The entire chip has to be powered hence the power draw.

Now there is no doubt Maxwell is efficient but to get there a lot of functionality had to be dropped which made sense i mean what gamer uses double precision anyway but to go into "ignorance is bliss" mode when the same argument nVidia fans used 2½ years ago is used against them could well be filed under "double standards" really..

Now to be clear and so there are no hurt feeling, im not trying to be rude or to offend anyone simply just stating my personal opinion which is: if your ready to deal a kicking you should also be ready to recieve a kicking without rolling over all hurt in the behind(again speaking to everyone here).

Now i think i need to get outside and get some sun!.. lovely weather today and no new cards to order anyway..

of course there there is, remember AMD and AMD's fans around the GTX480 "lols uses so much power" "we don't want to make massive chips anymore more, then a few years later..... Now the tables have turned and its ok for AMD not care about power consumption and what not.

At the end of the day is down to raw performance for me, noise/power/heat are secondary (allthough still important) but are all considerations as they are linked to each other eps when running on air.

Pretty sure for me gaming at 3440x1440, a pair of these is going to be better than a pair of Titan X's considering it's going to work out several hundred less!

Any ideas on when EK Blocks will be available?

£600 or less for a factory overclocked version with a good cooler and I'm in :) A bit of shame I'm going on holiday for two weeks on friday! At least there will be more options when I get back :)

I'm more interested to see the new GTX980 price tbh, if it's below £400 then it's going to be very attractive. When do AMD's GPU's launch?
