Depends if the custom boards have phat VRMs and tonnes of phases.

Thanks, that's what I assumed. Might have to find space in my case for the Hybrid I've had enough of the noise that my 2 x Reference 290s make.

It's more likely over the reference cards for sure, only because it's cooler. But you could get a cruddy chip and get worse results.

EVGA's top dog binned cards are your best bet. But to get the most you would have to at least water cool it. Then the price will be within £100 of a Titan X, would it be worth it?

I've just bought two reference EVGA cards, I'll flash the SC bios on myself and put them under water. No point spending more than a normal card if you're putting on water cooling IMO. If you want the Hybrid then that's going to be a good shout.

I have no desire at all to install watercooling There is a second hand Titan X on the MM which is tempting, but I can't see it being worth £200 more than poor-overclocking 980 Ti. This is a sideways "upgrade" so I have to be slightly sensible about it.

Wonder why they decided to pop on an expensive all copper cooler on it when most would buy this to put under water?

Also dam thats a lot of power being fed into this 2x8 and 1x6 pin thats just as much as the lightning 290x lol.
