**Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti Review Thread**

No different to what happened with 780s and Titans. Didn't affect the price of the Titan at all (no more than general ageing does anyway). Also didn't prevent people who wanted/needed Titans from buying them, just like it won't with TXs.

Not really the same at all. The 780 was still 10% or more behind Titan and had only 3GB of memory at a time when games were pushing 4GB. It was 8 months before the release of the 780Ti and it still had only 3GB of ram.

The original Titan also had full DP, amazing cooler and was the first of it's kind released during a slow time in graphic card tech with nothing on the horizon. Then Nvidia's new cards were released with 4GB of ram which helped prolong the life and value of the original Titans. They still sold pretty well in the second hand market.

Now fast forward to the Titan-X, it has 12GB of ram, that's it. It has nothing else over the 980Ti. Same performance and no DP to fall back on. Is the extra memory worth the price?

Maybe you are right and people will still buy them but I can't see any reason why.

Great price on this card, really impressed :) My impatience to go and grab a Titan X early has certainly come at a cost (bought on release), but it's had some heavy usage since then so I can't complain too much.

It seems like they've gone all out on these releases (Titan X and 980Ti) with next to nothing left in the Maxwell tank to improve further. I can't help but think AMD have got a gem of a card tucked away. Thanks to tying myself into Gsync though, I won't have to worry about that too much and I'll just try and play ignorant ;)

Instant buy from me, Maxwell OC'ing within a frame of the Titan X (at launch) in most games is quite incredible considering the price difference between the two. Titan X this time can't fall back on DP as it doesn't have it, Quite an unusual release this time around.

The original Titans had double precision, which was great for compute. The TitanX doesn't have it - it's just a 980TI with 6GB more VRAM. It's value has plummeted already.

I keep hearing this to the point that i'm actually gutted i bought a Titan X in the first place, i mean all those people that bought the Titan and Titan black for its double precision.......

Seriously , COME ON ! , i think the people who bought the Titan for its double precision performance are in the MINORITY, the people that bitch and complain about it wouldn't even have a use for it.

Let me put it this way, when i read the first reviews of the titan x i thought hmm no 'double precision' that doesn't apply to me, much like the first titan reviews that talked about the included 'double precision' i thought hmm, that means nothing to me , just like the other 99.9% of people who bought the titan did.

Give it a rest.

DP is the CUDA of the 2010s.

People listing it as a justification for their purchase until they learn what it means/does.

Can't wait to see what the next one will be.

It was one of the selling points of the Original Titans though. People did buy them because you could set them up in workstation mode and use them as workstation cards. You would be surprised at the amount of people who bought them because for compute use.

Yes, I understand completely what you are saying sure, most people bought the titans for gaming and never used the DP side of things at all. But that's besides the point, it added value to the card. It was a feature. It was your choice if you used it or not.

The same performance as the Titan-X, i think that's deliberate, AMD now know what to aim for, they need 45% more performance to match the Titan-X.

I don't understand the Titan X owners who feel shafted, I mean The TX still has 256 more CUDA cores, More TMU's, 6GB more memory, It looks amazing and makes a nice change from the silver look and if overclocked based on the reviews and my own testing you can get passed the 980 Ti's overclocked performance :)

I do wish I could get a metal backplate for my Titan X without EVGA branding though.
