I don't think there is any official confirmation on the VRAM front. Don't forget Kepler has been around a long time so I don't expect the 780Ti to remain top dog for much longer.

That's how things work in the industry mate, new chips come along to replace older ones.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti with Maxwell GPU in February

Well this is interesting. According to SweClockers NVIDIA will launch the first Maxwell GPU with the graphics card from GeForce 700 series – not 800.

The 800's in mobile are kepler parts - AMD did a rename of 7970m to M290x so nvidia followed suit in the laptop marketing wars

Really?

Nvidia has been rebranding mobile gpus since 2008, the 9500M GS was a rebranded 8600M GT.

Umm... no-one is saying Nvidia hasn't odne it in the past, but this generation it was AMD who decided to do it first, and so Nvidia, with it's performance lead, and no need to push the boudary, followed suit.

According to Chinese website the upcoming graphics card known as GeForce GTX 750 Ti would be 10 to 15% slower than GeForce GTX 660.

It is true though. Anything >30fps is supposed to look very good and play very smooth. The low end cards could be a viable option.
