*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Okay then if you want to shine OCUK boots even more justify this for us then. People ordering 10/15 minutes after others but higher in the queue?

That’s me as well, paid by amazon pay , they take the time this clears rather than when you ordered.. a joke tried to complain and they told be to sod of basically.

As I scan the horizon from my Amazon tree top perch I look down at the AWD vehicle I arrived in and think "ebuy gum, why did I get a two day ban from OCUK forums?".
Now I'm back I'll curry favour with the mods. It's a mad, mad, mad, mad pc world!

As someone who has also pondered said question, I laughed way too much at this...

Enjoy your incoming ban friend :p

As a business owner, I can tell you that business accounts do not gain any interest. Everything that gets done on a business account costs money. Go to a teller to put cash in - costs money, take cash out - costs money, accept a debit/credit card payment - costs money, refund a customer - costs money, heck there's even a monthly charge just to have a business account. That being said, it doesn't pay to have a huge stack of money sitting doing nothing in your account, so my guess is that the pool of cash is being floated on the markets to make it work until the cards we're all waiting on turn up.
This. At last someone gets it. All these posts about OC making piles of money from interest on pre-orders

He originally said he was expecting an OK amount and it would appear that a small amount shipped.

That's the problem with trying to give people information about deliveries that have not actually shipped yet.
I think it's two shipments looking at it now. ok amount = approx 50 cards, and I moved up about 50 places up in the queue on Friday.

The way OCUK have played this, from bigging up initial priority partnerships to the lack luster communication, they have been well out shone by their competitors. I will not be purchasing from here for some time.

Who knows if they have financial issues and are using customers money to stay afloat or if they really have become so complacent that the customer is not that important.

Not really because most of the people joining multiple queues are cancelling the other orders when one finally arrives, so the actual number of units bought is the same. And the "demand" doesn't matter anyway because they're all out of stock everywhere and until there's a live and healthy supply chain with product on shelves that needs restocking any apparant demand wont matter.

Plus most stores are not run by idiots, they know a certain % of their customers will cancel either because of getting bored waiting or because they've ordered elsewhere and factor that into their own purchasing.

I take your point, but I'm not talking about stock on the shelves, I'm talking about the fear of missing out that encourages bad consumer behaviour. It's like a psychological snowball effect.

Also, a lot of disgruntled people are complaining about changing queue positions and lack of accurate information.

The problem is. if you use your card for professional work you want something thats stable and wont let you down. nvidia have that and the support of many applications. amd doesn't have that just yet. I got a 3080 and for my work i was maxing it out so kinda justified the cost of the 3090 for me. In gaming its a decent improvement, not imo worth the extra if games is your only use but an improvement still and still better value than some of the prices being charged for the 3080 some places. The extra memory is a dream :)

Hey thanks for the advice! I would love a 3090 but £500 is too much over my budget. I'm a university student so I don't have much money, this was a lot of saving I had to do to get what I'm going for now. It will help a lot if I can get my new PC before my assessments for Term 2. AMD drivers are a worry and lack of support for applications sucks but I'm hopeful it will still do the job I need it to do.

people want a card. just one. Its not as if they want to stock up like loo roll at the start of the first lockdown lmao.

numbers don't add up. neither does what people have been told. If you think nothings wrong and are happy to wait you've really no need to look at this thread. just f5 gibbos thread and that will tell you everything you need to know :D

The people here, for the most part just want to figure out whats going on and hopefully prevent any potential buyers from joining a queue without knowing the facts. If thats of no interest to you or the others that think ocuk are doing nothing wrong then why do you come here? Just to try and press a few frustrated people's buttons? I can't see any other reason to make comments suggesting people dont deserve answers and should be happy when they get a couple of lines from gibbo.

So what's the explanation then?

Original people place an order at "x" price, loads of people order and many of the orders are unable to be filled, price of cards on the open market starts to climb, price of new sales on the site is put up.

Retailer is unable to find cards at the price the original people have paid, they are now in the position of potentially making a loss on each card.

Do they either stall the original orders until they can find cards at this price and give cards to the newer orders who have paid the new going rate or fulfill new orders and feed limited stock to back orders meaning they break even.

Difficult situation for a business to be put in, the launch is a total mess for all retailers, I was going to buy a 3090 but will be waiting for the AMD launch and hoping for a 3080ti at slightly more reasonable money.

I think you’ll struggle to get a 3080ti from amd and doubt it will be revealed during their launch lol ;)

ocuk have put themselves in this position. If they can’t fill then they should at least be honest and cancel orders. They kept pre-orders open way longer than anybody else. I really doubt nvidia increased the price of chips. Also be surprised if aibs increased their price. From what I’ve seen and the access to the one distributor I have it seems like the price increases everywhere are simply the retailers trying to make a quick buck. Some are just more greedy than others. The same is happening with amd cpus aswell. It’s not great really.

Urm, I really wouldn’t like OCUK to start cancelling orders. I ordered my card in late September, I was 1100 ish in the queue then, I am now in the 700s for my card.

I am not particularly interested in the 3080ti or the amd cards, I am just happy to wait. Upgrading from a RX 480 that has overheated and is faulty, so the jump from that to the 3080 will do me plenty. I only have a 1920x1080 144hz monitor so anything over the 3080 would be overkill. Heck the 3080 is overkill.

The only thing I wish OC had was a pre-order guarantee like Amazon, if the price goes lower you pay the lower price when your item is shipped. That and a running total on the order page for what the current preorder queue is, so that a prospective customer is well informed before they buy.

Shocking to see that the stock issues have barely improved. Absolutely ludicrous how many orders OcUk have yet to satisfy.
Cancelled my cards ordered here a while back and was fortunate enough to get a Founders Card at MSRP. Now have it vertically mounted and loving it :).

Hope you guys get your cards soon.
