*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

He could've posted that weeks ago and saved a lot of frustration being vented. Now people can make an informed decision of whether or not to cancel their pre-order knowing full well that a 2020 delivery may not be likely.

Nvidia seem hell bent on self destruction.

Well that post wasn't condescending in the slightest, I don' think anyone here thought OCUK was the manufacturer, we were fed up with the lack of communication. Nice rant though, good way to further alienate your customers.

Emailed a smaller competitor yesterday that is also offering pre-orders and got a very honest response this morning, interesting how they can tell me the number of people in queue for the cards im interested in, a rough estimate on when they expect stock/when they will be able to fulfil pre-orders of those cards as well as information on cards i didn't specifically ask about.

I think thats probably the retailer i ordered my strix with. At least th

Wow, that was good for a giggle :p

Its ever so slightly closer to the truth but they still insist they are receiving and shipping daily yet no updates from gibbo in how long?

Why dont they link to this forum and gibbos thread so buyers can see whats going on before buying. ;)

They need to be honest and let potential buyers know its a LOOOOOONNNNNGGGGG wait whichever way you slice it :D

We do, on our homepage:

Translated: We aint getting **** for a while. Try get a founders when they drop, but thanks for your money, it really got us some buying power!

Yeah. Basically don’t expect to get it in 2020 is what he was saying in that long post.

Yes...that long post. Better communication for sure....no complaints there.

But the entire point of that long essay was hidden away in the middle. 'It's not our fault, we have no control over the manufacturers and it's upsetting to see people slating us' (paraphrased)

Yes...yes, it is your damn fault. You are still taking pre-orders, you are still getting less stock that other UK retailers despite your far-reaching claims of being one of the biggest partners of Nvidia.

How about honesty? Plonk that entire post on the landing page for the 3 series cards, to allow new buyers to actually see how long they may wait rather than keeping pre-orders open that you have just admitted are unlikely to be fulfilled this year?

Customers: Whehh we want an update! Even an update with no info is better than no update!
OCUK: Okay we're literally at the mercy of the manufacturers and are trying everyday to secure more stock, stock which we likely expect will rank up in November (as we've already said before)
Customers: Whehhhhhh that's not the update we wanted.

Babies everywhere!

Everyone knows that OCUK has no control on this but why they kept the pre-orders up when they have close to zero information about incoming stock? Many of those orders will be fulfilled next year and this is unacceptable, especially that they have our money.

The thing is nvidia still have the better product. Its free publicity and only highlights how much people want their product. It wont hurt them in the slightest :(

Gibbo's latest post doesn't sound too encouraging. It's gonna be a long wait boys.

Yep it's been a dry 1-2 weeks and I think people are going a bit mental waiting and with lack of updates. He's reflecting what I've been saying all along which is they can only give you updates which their suppliers can give them, they have no magic insight into the supply chain other than what the distributors can relay, and they can only relay what the AIBs can relay to them, and the AIBs can only get estimates from Nvidia on critical components like the GPU itself, who have to relay what the Samsung fabs are telling them. So it's this insanely slow moving supply chain full of uncertainty.

I've said this to a number of people who seem to have lost the plot with updates, but it's worth just keeping an eye on that thread and its a safe assumption that if there's no updates there, then there's simply nothing more to tell you of any substance. You shouldn't need an update every 5 seconds telling you there is no more new information. The sooner you accept this the easier you'll be able to come to terms with the inevitable wait rather than acting like its OCUKs fault.

I think people already know ocuk has no control over the stocks.

It's just that when competitors have information about when shipment is expected weeks in advance and ocuk only mentions expected deliveries the day before shipment arrives, it becomes a hard sell. As in how is it that ocuk don't get any info from those same manufacturers that their competitor is getting information from.

Out of interest, do you think with the latest updated provided by Gibbo that it may now be a sensible option to shut off pre-orders? If they are at a point they are unsure that back-orders can be fulfilled before 2020 is done and dusted then surely that would be the correct thing to do at this point?

Anyone thinking of big navi?. I'm 451 for a ventus and if spec is comparable I may well be f5 ing on release day.. don't think I'll be purchasing here though.

Also can people stop whining about preorders still being open. You don't speak for everyone. If I had not pre-ordered on day 1 but instead was getting into the market for a card right now today, I'd want the option to pre order. When you moan about it you risk them shutting it down and denying people that would be perfectly happy a service simply because you're being selfish.

The only thing I would agree is that the preorders need to have an ETA on them which list 2021 for delivery because that's what is looking likely right now and people deserve to know what the deal is when they make that pre order.

Why shut off pre orders? Some cards don't have long queues, others do. If you're stupid enough to have a mindset which only allows you to buy from one of the market approved brand names and won't even consider other lesser known brands you deserve a long wait !
