*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

I'm 1050 in the Asus TUF non OC queue. Intended on using this GPU to build my first gaming PC as a 30th birthday present to myself. At what point do I just call it a day and buy a 2070 Super? I'm thinking leave it till early November to see if there is any significant movement and if not just go for the refund and pick whichever seller has handled this mess best for the 2070s purchase. I need a wise old man to give me sage advice - maybe someone say something profound please.

Problem is due to the this current shortage the 20 series cards are commanding a lot higher price atm, if I was in your shoes I might try my hardest to snag a 3070 on release.

Try and get a 3070, it'll still sell really well 2nd hand when you finally get your 3080, other then that only thing I can suggest is a older GPU, 980Ti would be a good shout for 1080/1440p gaming

I honestly don't have the heart to read hundreds of pages of rage to find the answer to my question, so apologies to those I irritate but pressing ahead and asking it anyway...

Any news on the Eagle OC? I've not seen any mention of this in Gobbo's updates since September.

Just read the latest https://www.overclockers.co.uk/blog...ries-regular-updates-on-deliveries-and-stock/ and yeah customers are frustrated. I have had two emails with my q number now at 537 as of 14th Oct. This was a reduction from the first email showing 571. I understand that you only get an email when some of the cards of the type you have ordered have been sent out. It would be much better to send out an email every week regardless if any cards have been sent out. From those numbers so far I don't know if they sent 34 or if they have sent 1 and 33 people have cancelled. Having an email each week would give some idea of your queue position and that's useful. If enough cancel to improve my q position significantly I'll hang on even if no cards have been sent out. If my q position doesn't change at all for a few weeks I'll cancel. I hope OC aren't withholding numbers as that would be an indication of cancel rates. I can't make an informed decision when not fully informed.

No that was LAST WEEK typical moaner that does not cheak what rep says...

yeah, iirc he specifically mentioned the 12th, which would make the end of this week the 2nd week. Time will tell I guess.

RE the 23rd thing, I don't get how people don't understand they DID have stock of some Eagles for then, but nowhere near enough, and quickly realised how much confusion the ETAs were causing (which will just be metadata pulled from some backend database I imagine)

Is it annoying? Of course it is - I am another person who ordered an Eagle specifically because it sounded like they'd be getting stock in sooner than other skews, and am now in one of the few queues not moving at all...but I can also still grasp that the ETA was there because they had some, and not enough, and to not put much stock (no pun intended :D) into it either way, it's a moot point really - it wasn't some lie they didn't deliver on, just unclear information that a lot of people (including myself) were fooled by that OC should maybe have done a better job of anticipating once volumes became clearer.

At the end of the day people like Giga-Man are only going to be able to tell us so much because they'll be under specific instructions, and I don't imagine he even has THAT much information when it comes to overall volumes, how they're going to be distributed, how many shipments there are, etc, etc.

I am just as frustrated at the lack of information as anybody else, and am just as eager to get my card, but I just think people are looking for info at too low a level - really this information should be coming from proper statements and announcements Gigabyte/Aorus, or whichever relevant AIB your own order applies to, because they have been ridiculously opaque on things like overall volumes, shipment timelines, expected increases in production, distribution splits, whether the power input issue has delayed things completely or just the initial batches being shipped, etc etc.

I am 100% with everybody annoyed and frustrated, but to me it feels like people are demanding info and clarity from sources that if they stepped back and thought about it, they'd realise they couldn't possibly get it from in much more detail than they already have, even if on the surface it feels like they should know... but I also realise that's because they have no way to get an answer from the people that do

This forum used to be a great place until this GPU released. :p
Man id say this thread is more entertaining that anything on TV. Only checking every 30 minutes while digging for new updated and testing new version of RTC

Gigabyte rep has said that an extremely small amount is supposed to be coming this week (he said 'in about 2 weeks' on the 12th), with more coming after that, in unspecified but 'hopefully' more volume. Worth noting that this was in regards to them being shipped to European distributors at all, not arriving specifically with Overclockers, so will still probably be a while yet before any meaningful pipeline. He specifically said the first shipments would be in the teens, which is obviously still insignificantly small in volume for everybody but the people at the very front of queues

They've never officially said as such, but it's becoming fairly apparent that they held back/recalled/etc early production in some form to repair the power connector issue that was being talked about, although it's unclear as to how this effected things - whether it was previously produced ones being recalled alongside new ones being produced, or if all production was stoppped, etc etc etc. Best case scenario the delay has helped them build up a decent production surplus and the initial dearth of cards should even out with a much larger initial shipment than the drips and drabs of other AIBs. Worst case scenario, it has wholesale stopped the production and distrubition in some meaningful way, and we're still 6 weeks behind the other AIBs still only at a point where OC are getting 10-20 a week of them in.

tl'dr, we ultimately don't know much beyond that they were delayed, are now supposedly incoming, but still know nothing about volumes or how the delays overall has effected distribution, shipments, etc

Thanks. I'm clinging to the same hope: it's delayed a wee bit now, but that means a monster-sized ship will float its way over to us at the end of November and OC gets a 'dream' amount of non-crap-cabled Eagles to send to us all.

Freakin' unlikely, but you gotta have hope.
