*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3090 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Well there is one person on here who swapped his 3080 order to a 3090 and he kept his order number...........so potentially jumping to first in the queue for the 3090.
Yeah, he said he kept his order number, but that does not mean he jumped the queue. An order number is just a number, after all. And there is thus far no evidence the order numbers are being used to determine order served. Personally, I just don't believe OcUK would allow that. He was told he kept his order number, he was not told he maintained his place in the queue. He inferred that part himself. ;)

If I was OcUK, I would be ordering by time of transaction. When he upgraded to the new card, that would have been a new transaction, in spite of the order number. I just think that's more likely, personally. But really I don't know either. Just guessing.

Exactly this! Order numbers mean very little. It's is transaction time that counts.

so this queue email that is getting sent, im guessing its per brand and model of card then? although will there be any info on expected stocking dates on these emails or just the queue number?

Trying to get one of these cards is torture. Not in my whole life have I ever experienced anything so scarce – I've always been able to get in early and preorder and get whatever it was day one. Beginning to think the best policy is to just not think about it anymore.

Only way is to not think about it too much.....look at it like a preorder for the likes of the PS5 or Xbox in Nov I suppose (of course, they have their own issues).
Of course, in most of those scenarios, money hasn't gone out the door, but that's a bit of a circular argument that's been covered before on here.
Certainly there are practises in place that need to be reviewed on all sides....Nvidia, Retailers, Individuals

Honestly, though, you could still get a pre-order in for a day-one next-gen console three days after they began. This was three seconds.
