** NVIDIA GTX 1080 FOUNDERS EDITION: WANNA PRE-ORDER?

I managed to get a BNIB Zotac GTX 980 Ti AMP Extreme edition for £390 posted to tide me over until the 1080ti launches. I don't think I can justify £600+ at present on the 1080.

Yeah but it might happen. Half the issue people are complaining so much now about the price of the 1080 is the exchange rate.

in 2007 in was $2.11 dollars to the pound. If it was that today, even the FE edition would only be costing £398 inc VAT and the none founders would be £340 inc VAT.

I suspect at under £400 there would be a lot less said about the price of this card and a lot more bought in the UK.

Cant say ive ever really noticed a big difference in price when £££ stronger. I bet even if it was $2 = £1 today this card would still be £500 minimum here. Just keeping it real. Were getting ripped off more so than ever these days, but ultimately we all have choice, you don't have to pay for it, their are cheaper alternatives :)

My guess is like most others he may give in and purchase one anyway :p

No, not me, I will survive..
When Jen-hsun comes knocking,
I will hide my behind..

Got Polaris on my mind,
Which Lisa Su will provide,
So no I won't lay down,
Won't let Jen-hsun take me from behind...

Oh no, I will survive... Yeah yeah!! :p

All I care about is how long AIB card will hit the scene after the 27th if I had to guess we could see some hitting the scene for AT LEAST pre-order within a week?

Jeez people complaining about the prices this happens everytime new tech is sold and there's no competition, im confused as to why everyone's that surprised.

Well £619 for a non Ti is a Fully star out all swearingjoke my friend, this is not the way PC Gaming can move forward I am afraid, it is very disappointing and as much I can buy this card cash right now I would not throw money in the bin for the sake of doing it, not that stupid and I am sure many will be held off.

I paid premium price for OCUK 970 (which it is a great card) as I have a miniITX and I do need the blower type as it is a silent rig but that was "slightly" above the competitions and way better... £619? No way!

Love to see some 1080 benchmarks for Total War: Warhammer. It's the best optimised game they've released in a while, I think, and @3440x1440 I get 45ish FPS, so I bet the 1080 could do a nice job with the game.

You may see some on these forums in the near future.

I have been asked to do a bench thread for the game when DX12 is running ok.

In the flesh the cooler design is far nicer than in photos and just to 100% confirm for those who do not know it does have a backplate. :)

8800GT launch price: $200 9 years ago.

Hot on the heels of ATi's biggest disaster, the R600.

the 8800GT was a gem of a card. I think I got mine for £119 as the exchange rate was over two dollars to the pound back then. Even better was that I had a feeling it was going to be a good card and sold my old (slower) card for £165 the week before release :D

That was serious bang for the buck.

Any idea of delivery day if we pre-order on Friday?

Will we get it Sat or the following Tuesday?

This article was written in 2008.

"First was the nVidia 8800 GT that, although a bit expensive to truly call midrange at £150-£180, offered massive performance for a much more realistic price than the 8800 GTS and GTX."

£150 deemed "expensive" for midrange.

Your telling me inflation has been 500% since 2008? no chance. We are getting royally shafted now. Beyond belief.
