NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

I'm getting pretty bad stuttering with SLI in a few games. Not sure if it's the new drivers. Every 5 seconds or so it hitches really bad.

It actually happens in all games :o

Thanks for the help everyone, the G1 looks a bit long for my case (NODE 304) so went with the GALAX version instead. Should be arriving tomorrow.. a nice step up from the 750 Ti (and there was me thinking that would hold me over for a year or two... once I got a taste of those ultra graphics but at 40fps... I wanted more!)

Thanks for the feedback regarding my issue folks. I suspected my CPU might hinder performance slightly at 1080p. Also my monitor is only 60hz, was more of a stop-gap if anything so I definitely plan to get the ASUS Swift 1440p very soon.

I think the new monitor and up to 144hz will make much better use of the cards.

Turns out the cause of my stuttering seems to be MSI Afterburner. If I close it the hitches stop in the games I've tested. Weird.

54c is pretty impressive. Kinda wish id went for a pair of 970's now. Sidegrade sure but the cooler temps would have helped in my setup.

A couple of times now i've noticed the chessboard pattern flash over the console window of both l4d2 and gmod while i was in the main menu, but not seen it happen in game or on textures. Is there some kind of issue with the card? That's stock speed. I used driver cleaner software to remove my old 5870 drivers.

Ordered an Inno3D OC today, bring on Friday!

Been away from a gaming PC but really cant wait to get BF4, PAYDAY 2 and Alien Isolation on the go.
This is also my first NV card since the 8800GT!

whats the opinion best cards for sli with a one slot gap, the gigabyte g1 and galax black edition look quite nice, the titan style reference also look good but pricey

Titan reference style would be the best. Theese new cards do run cooler than older models. But when you stick two non ref cards together, the heat does get trapped between them and cause the top one to run much hotter. A problem i have myself on a pair of gigabyte 780's.

Top card can get as high as 79c, bottom one 66c.

Same wf x3 coolers, but one us a rev 1 card, 1x 8 pin, 1x 6 pin pcie, rev 2, (top card) uses dual 8 pin connectors. Higher stock boost on this one and oc'd better.

Oh, it's good to be back with nvidia...

After months and months of fiddling with my PC to get games smooth on trifire (or even dual card) amd 290's, stick in a couple of 970's and at least two games that were a problem (be 4 and titanfall) now playable again!

They just work! I may start enjoying gaming on my PC again. Why didn't I do it sooner?

Count me in ! :D

Replacements for my R9 295x2

Initial thoughts on the gigabyte 970 G1 cards.... bloody impressed!
So quiet, even quieter than my old 290 with AIO fitted & I thought that was quiet.
Cool, after several loops of Firestrike, Top card hit 60c & bottom card 54c

No coil whine either!

One thing that concerned me was this morning when turning PC on, got bios display but when got into windows was just getting 'no input' message from monitor until I reset.

Hope that was a one off...
