NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

Ordered an Inno3D OC today, bring on Friday!

Been away from a gaming PC but really cant wait to get BF4, PAYDAY 2 and Alien Isolation on the go.
This is also my first NV card since the 8800GT!

I upgraded to that card from an 8800GT, no regrets, and I'm still running a Q6600.... :)

Saw someone mention their msi fans were pulsing on idle when they should just be off. Noticed mine doing it today. Fault or driver's?

It's a conflict between the drivers and card bios.

I just set mine with a custom fan profile to spin at %30 at idle which is still completely silent and also drops 10.c of the idle temp.

i updated to the latest nvidia drivers 344.60 using Msi 970 sli

call of duty advanced warfare screen is constantly jittering

ryse son of Rome im seeing artifacts on the screen and slight jittering

anyone else having problems?

how do i use nvidia inspector

whats the opinion best cards for sli with a one slot gap, the gigabyte g1 and galax black edition look quite nice, the titan style reference also look good but pricey

Sli Galax GTX970 EXOC (Grey) 1405/7412 OC 68c max temp on top card after a few hours of gaming. No coil whine whatsover and you can't hear them over your case fans. They also have this neat feature that starts the second fan only if temps reach 50c.

BTW I haven't tried pushing the cards at all the OC is just 250mhz on the core and 100mhz on the mem.

First time Galax purchase and Im super impressed. Had a bad experience with MSI on 4xR9-290s so I swore to never buy a product of theirs again.

Btw those temps are on a one slot gap

You must be running in to SLI issues then, as the games you mention run flawlessly on one 970.

Unless you have you cards OC'd? In which case, I would start looking there.

Just a quick question, for those of you running SLI & have a dedicated sound card fitted, where do you have it placed?

Mine is above the top card, but it's right on top of it, & I'm sure it's the reason my top card is 8c hotter than the bottom one.
I know the top card always runs warmer due to the hot air from the lower one, but just curious as to what other people do.

Only other place I have to put it is between the two GPU's but then that would mean blocking the fans on the top card.

As I say it's not really causing an issue, I'm just curious as to what other people have done. Or does everyone run on-board sound these days !!:D

I have both games and haven't encountered what you mention in SLI.

I was running 344.48 WHQL if I remember correctly

If I put +200 on the core they will boost to 1478 occasionally dropping to 1450/1460. I think one card will need more volts as it sits at 1.20 volts under load and perf cap reason VRel, VOp (and sometimes SLI). The other cards sits on 1.1875V and shows nothing or SLI on perf cap.

Not quite sure what the SLI meaning is exactly though...

I should probably try out custom BIOS :p

8c higher is pretty normal for a top card in sli,
actually pretty decent tbh. I've seen some run much higher, (my own included). Your sound card is in the ideal slot and wont effect the top card. Its the backside of your bottom card being close to the top one that causes the temp difference.

vrel supposedly means it doesn't want to run any higher in the current bin at that voltage. vop means it can't hit the minimum voltage required for the next bin. sli means it's limited by the clock on the other card (they have to run at the same speed).

that's my understanding at least.

Turns out my Strix isn't completely stable at 1522mhz. Weirdly enough, I played Metro: Last Light Redux for a couple of hours over the past few days without issues but yesterday I got a driver crash. Backed off 5mhz but it also crashed today once. Reduced the clock by another 5mhz and, so far, it seems all right at 1512mhz. This only happened in Metro, not even Crysis 3 crashed on me.

In Metro, the card was able to hold its boost clock for 99% of time without throttling and it crashed during a not particularly demanding scene when gpu wasn't even at max usage;p Not really that upset about it, I'm happy with the GPU boosting to 1450-1500. I won't touch the volts on these cards, it's not worth it at all.

What worries me more though is the fact that Metro and C3 can make the GPU hit 75C at times, which is not exactly cool (at least not GTX 970 cool). It's a bit more than I'd want so I think it's time to try my leftover side fan.

I missed the Pick Your Path promo by one day and Nvidia has denied me a code, my OC is not entirely stable and my card's running a bit hotter than I'd like;p This is not my lucky day;p

You should have dropped OCUK customer services a message on the forum. They would maybe have hooked you up with a code

So after getting annoyed with my 290 blackscreening, I decided to grab a 970, my first Nvidia card since the 8800! however long ago that was.
I picked the inno3d Card because it seemed to have higher clock speeds at stock than other cards at the same price point hopefully it will give me some trouble free gaming.
