Nvidia GTX 980 Owners Thread

Had exactly that same issue with my G1. Something dodgy going on with Gigabyte Quality Control recently.

Funny that ! Mine also came with a bent I/0, mine was on the slot part. Was trying to fit it to only realise that the two slot tabs are bent in... The metal used does seem very weak compared to any other GPU I've owned & that's been Gigabyte too ! If I've had to bend others I've had to do it with pliers & this G1 I could easily do it by hand ?

Anybody had this issue before with their GTX 980 & other brands ?

Well just managed to max the vram usage out on my 980 4048MB used. lookily fps stayed at 30ish.

appears to be when games are designed for consoles and badly ported to pc "apparantly".

Evolved with lowest AA and high graphics.

I believe shadows of mordor is meant to do the same.

What version of nvflash are you guys using? I just tried to flash my card with version 5.196 and it tells me that I need a newer version.

Update.

Found a version that will work

So, I've changed the Voltage table from 1212 for the top three and I have a P00 state voltage to 1250 and flashed it.

Guess what, the volts are now up. GPU-Z does not read it but it now boosts to the next bin and no more max volts limiting me.

I can see another flash coming with higher volts.

What exactly did you do please?

I'm out at the mo but will post screen shots when I get home. I'm presuming that you have a copy of your original BIOS?

Okay, you will need the Maxwell BIOS tool and the version of nvflash that does not check for certificate's. Dr Google those and post screen shot of your voltage table from the Maxwell tool.

When I get home I'll help you more.

Just run 3d Mark Firestrike with my 1.250 volt modded BIOS and scored 12111 @ 1507/3850, which is the highest I've scored with this Card yet. TDP went to 101% max too.

With stock BIOS and 1.212V max @ 1500/3850 it scored 11662. So the it defiantly appears that the stock BIOS on the FTW is limited.

Gutted I can't go any higher than 1542/4040 or I get kaleidoscope texture problems and flashing even with volt increases!

Boo hiss
