Nvidia GTX 980 Owners Thread

Advise please.

So I've had a look at my currently BIOS (Left) and had a go a changing the Voltage table (Right). From what I can see the BIOS had a hard limit of 1212.5mv. Am I reading that right and are the changes I've made good?

Thanks guys.

I found my clock wall any higher than this gives me artifacts or freeze ups!

So, don't know if anyone else has noticed this. But my card appears to be voltage locked. Changing the volts in AB or PreX does nothing. I've asked the question to EVGA and will keep you all informed.

It doesn't appear to be a problem yet as it will run at 1510 @ 1.212v. But no mega clocks without voltage control, which is odd as the card is meant to have better voltage circuitry.

That's what the Classifieds for.

Got the 980 HOF today, well chuffed. Running nice so far.

Images over 1,280 pixels wide should be placed in spoiler tags as I've done for you.

Sorry buddy, I can only modify the temp target and power limits which can in itself be a big help.

Bluntwrapped & James does the voltage modifying

Cheers. I'm 100% sure it's voltage holding back my clocks.

I can't even launch Heaven at anything over 1550/4000 - it tries and then I get a grey screen.

I get similar ceilings with my card, and it's frustrating because temperature is great and power usage is crazy low, 60 or 70% IIRC.

I'm thinking along the same lines as you in that I could mod the bios to get more volts, but I'm also wondering if it's really worth the gains. What we looking at, another 100mhz or so? Converted to frames, it's got to be 1 or 2 at most.

What's annoying is that other benchmarks are fine, for example I can run Tomb Raider all day at 1650/4100 or so.

Highest I've seen on my card is 42 degrees so temps are more than fine. :)

To be honest 1555/4000 is a fantastic clock, many users struggle to get over 1500 and same with the memory of 4000. With a voltage increase you may get 1600 but what's that, an extra 50mhz? Perhaps a frame here or there, so not worth it. Stick with what you got and enjoy as you've got a great card

LOL

That's when the benching bugs bit. The more you have the more you want.

So true!

I will have a little go at changing the voltage table simply because mine is locked so low and has dual BIOS.

I looks like the top three lines determine what your max volts will be.
