Nvidia GTX280/260 and 9800GTX/+ 177.39 Beta Driver with PhysX-Support

Damnit nvidia, get these drivers out for G80. My CPU score in '06 could really do with a boost, and that's what these drivers seem to be doing (i.e. offloading physics computations onto the GPU). (curse you ECS motherboard with a VIA chipset and your inability to clock more than 25MHz on the FSB. :()

carwash demo doesn't work for me either... can't create scene error then goes to wireframe unless I disable hardware physx... might need to be updated with a newer version of the SDK :S

Impressed with CPU gains but does look to me as if FPS in vantage game demos suffer with the Physx enabled. I went fron 6200 to 7400

Just ran age of conan, it appears to run a lot smoother with these drivers, might be the patch that was put on though, or just the new drivers rather than anything to do with the physx bit.

06 dosent get any boost at all matey, just vantage.

Just incase some don't realy understand how to get these working:

1) download the new driver for your OS ( use the links at the bottom of the page ) or (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11926938&postcount=1)

2) download the modded INF file
3) extract the files, and copy the INFI file for your OS, and paste it into the extracted driver folder (select replace when prompted)
4)unistall old Nv drivers.
5) run setup in the driver folder
6) downlaod the "NVIDIA PhysX Treiber 8.06.12" from first post (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11926938&postcount=1)
7) install the PhysX driver.

The Physx driver options are in menue, not the Nvidia control panel.

If anyone finds a rehost stick it up these are intermittent and horribly slow.

You don't actually _need_ the new display drivers for the physx stuff - just recent ones with CUDA support 175.16 seem to work - but I find I get better performance with the new ones... if you have recent 17x series drivers you can just install the new phsyx driver.

Using GT SLI and just installed the 177.39 drivers for vista 64 and my frames are noticeably higher in Age of Conan and Crysis... more importantly both "feel" far smoother! :p

Really really happy :D

EDIT: It was only today I was posting about my disapointment with SLi and how it just does not feel smooth even though the frames rise with second gpu enabled.

“Would've thought it would 'cause '06 is supposed to support PhysX as well.”
3dmark 06 has software PhysX only, there is no hardware support. 100’s of games are software PhysX only. The only games to benefit are the 50 odd with PPU support.
