Err are you serious? its reading your memory correctly mate, its on a quad bus. 500=1000 in real terms, put it to 550 and you've got 1100

hey dude, aint sure what that last bit mean? i think you mean is 'if i mod my bios to an overclock i know works then it will always be at that speed no matter what i do with the rest of my system' which is the main reason, plus you can up the core voltage
As for the first bit im afraid i cant remember, i think you choose to install a fresh copy and have the chance to delete any previous ones without formatting, have a play because windows HAS to ask you a Y/N question before deleting data (ie formatting) i know its there but off hand im afraid ive forgotton

Yes i am serious, sadly i tend to lose track of all things technical between upgrades so always become a n00b the next time round

Nah, what i meant, and it may be wrong, is that if you use your current gfx bios and mod that , because you know the basic bios is sound and works, then it may save you some issues of using a new modded bios.Originally posted by Ultra_Extreme

Right, yep thats the ticket. The reason people were using bios' from all over the shop is because all cards are still reference designs and therefore a BFG Ultra IS every other ultra etc
Are you modding your bios too mate?

careful mate! whilst i dont imagine it would damage your card thats WAAAAYYY over ambitious (unless your cooling to like -50C take it slow and be patient, trust me theres nothing worse than prssin that on switch and the screen not coming up

Was thinking about it but i've only got a basic 6800 so not sure if its worthwhile.

You need to hard mod those to try to unlock the pipelines first, because they have slower memory it can be iffy, if i were you google '6800nu hardmod' and read the posts you find on the people who've done it and see what you think, it seems to be a 50/50 whether you get a fully working GT, youll probably never get near ultra speeds tho....and of course hardmods can go wrong...

then i suggest flogging it and getting a GT. the problem with having an NU is that i doubt you'll ever truly be happy with the performance, with a GT @ ultra speeds you'll be sorted for over a year at the very least.
Gonna leave it for the mo, only overclocks to 400/810 but i'm waiting to see if anything more comes of the issue with the pipelines and not being able to overclock cos the pipe opened seme to perform better than any overclock i can manage

Hi, was thinking of clocking my nx6800gt 256 with the bios but a couple of questions if i may 
Would you guys reckon the cooler on this board is good enough to clock ?
and whats the difference between using a clocking util to clock upto 1100/450 rather than getting the bios to do it for you ?
Maybe a stupid question but.....

the coolers 'ok' but dont quote me, for fifteen pound get an AC to be sure!
If you clock on the bios its ALWAYS there so you dont need to reclock every time u reinstall drivers etc, also you can up the voltage which helps overclock (but can damage card(doesnt worry me, but get it right!!)!!)
