NVidia Help Page + OC advice / Steps to take if your 6800 isn't working

dont want to sound like a n00b but how do i turn off fast write in coolbits ???

ive installed coolbits... i go into the agp settings tab, but have no control over all the information it tells me

my problem is i just bought a 6800nu... having the freezing problems mentioned .... but cant seem to fix it

fastwrite is turned off in bios .... 2d/3d clock speeds are the same in coolbits .... but im still getting freezing problem

my concern is in coolbits on the gpu column of the fast right part it says yes ... is this sayin my gpu can have it turned on or that it currently is turned on ???

little help would be nice

Hey :)

Okay, I have the XFX6800GT and am interested in flashing it to ultra ....

One thing I wanted to ask, is there any real risk as long as the flash goes okay? i.e is my card the same in every way and just infact an underclocked ultra or is there actual differences in the core and memory between the ultra and GT ? I'm currently running mine at 400/1100 right now and its fine - 52degrees playing HL2 at 1280 fully maxxed (got good case cooling)

Mine is 350/1000 default, I read a review on (another site) of a XFX6800Ultra that came clocked 450/1100 standard? 100mhz clock difference seems a lot!!!

Will give the core and mem more juice, but at the same time it tightens the memory timings, so you will find that the 400 clock you have now might become unstable, which defeats the point.

Ive flashed my card 3 times now, but just make sure you backup your original one and if something does go wrong, have a PCI graphics card just incase.

You wont reach 450, I found my Aopen GT didnt like the ultra flash either. Remember the cores on the ultras can do better speads as they are the creme de la creme of 6800 Cores.

should this freezing problem im having be freezing my entire system or just the graphics end of it ?? cus sound dies aswell and im thinkin more must be wrong with my pc

from my last post i decided my graphics card couldnt be causing all my problems .... unplugged one of my hdd's that had been playing up recently and the freezing stopped :)

fps aint what i had hoped though .... will run 3dmark03 later today, what score u think a gf 6800nu running on a xp2200 should get ?

well mate im afraid that because its a 6800nu, they arent that quick, their performance is far closer to the last gen than the current im afraid, better for newer games but really a whole leap from GT's/ultras/XT's etc

Glad to hear youve got your probs sorted tho

yeah i knew that goin in.... dont see much improvement over the 9700pro i had in it before though

yeah tis a shame, tbh i dont think anyones ever really happy, i went from a fx5200 (whose reputation is WELL deserved) to a 6800ULTRA thats a 3dmark03 score change of 12000!!!!! yet in all honesty the games were just as good before, only advantage now is that people go WOW when u run D3 or HL2 and i mean TBH some things are stunning but its not infinite power you still get some slowdown when u ramp up the latest titles so you just cant win.

ok... been gettin bluescreens with the oh so scary "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

is this graphics card related ??? cus u buy a new graphics card and then ** pc starts bluescreening a lot u start to worry

have tried swappin drivers but still seems to be duin it (was on 67.03 but thought as they beta that might be a problem)... on the 66.93's i think now (latest one on nvidia site)

idea's anyone ?

Hi, Ultra_Extreme

im having problems getting my leadteak 6800nu to perform

my pc setup is : Barton 2500 (at stock), 512mb geil ultra pc3200 cas2 ram, 460W xpro psu.

im only getting 6500 3dmark03 scores, which is 3-4K less than average it seems, and my hl2 performance is very bad also, ive only got the 12 pipes unlocked and its not overclocked, what *** b the problem here?

its not the nu its your CPU im afraid (i dont think nu's get 10k+ very often, but i could be wrong), will be holding you back a bit, especially in halflife 2. Your best bet (although its an akward one) is to try it in a mates PC that is a bit quicker and see if you get the results your expecting.

A number of things to check first is that you have a good 12v rail from your PSU and that the 5V is not too low,

also check temps,

defrag,

maybe format the windows drive and do a clean install if poss,

reinstall drivers USE DRIVER CLEANER (link in main post)

check CPU temps, (if theyre good then OC a little to see if it nudges it up)

What 3dmk 01 score you getting? People say that 3dmark 03 only tests the graphics card but the CPU still gets hammer its assuming your up in the 3gig/3000+ range which your not,

A few more details of the type of lag your seeing etc would help
