** NVIDIA PRICE DROP: GTX 780 & 770 MASSIVE PRICE DROP!! **

No one ever mentions the Asus DCUII that I seem to think is so great, am I missing something? :) Only £10 more than MSI and £20 more than Windforce.

Base clocks only 60MHz less, and from what I read cooling and noise 2nd to none.

I'll mention it :D You are correct it's the best 780 ;)

Good old AMD, just lost another couple of hundred in graphics cards now :D

personally not quite sure why Nvidia has panicked but it shows for sure we all need AMD to do well ;)

Oh boy, this is more than I expected, it is now a no brainer!

Two quick questions:

Are all the 780 reference cooler models pretty much the same, or is their a preferred choice?

How long does the games bundle last, I.E. how long do I have to make up my mind before throwing money at the screen?

Anyone? Before they're out of stock lol!

Stock reference vs OC... :)

Yes but the gigabyte 780 OC is faster out of the box, runs at 67 degrees, uses less power, and is quite a bit cheaper after selling the games.

Unless you want to risk how good a clocker of a 290x you get and you already have a watercooling set up, you would be a fool to go with the 290x.

nivida havent panicked, they've just realised they no longer have a monopoly so are selling at the 780 RRP.

Well the point is now you can get the custom 780 OC cards for less than the 290X reference.

Yes, it's making the 290X unattractive - but that's nothing to do with performance. Given decent cooling on both the 780 and the 290X, the 290X would be preferable to many people.

Couldn't be happier nvidia have dropped their prices, still won't buy one though :D

I've decided to wait until the 290 comes out and then wait even more for non-reference designs. By this time i expect prices to have come down on both sides a touch more and possibly get an even better deal on a card nvidia/AMD.

The fanboism in this thread make me want to vomit, it's nice to see good prices but disgusting to see the **** lickers turn a good thing in to an overheated debate ;)

And people saying "it's a no brainer" come on do you really believe that? there are more cards being released soon (290/780ti) that will change things once again for us.

I'm happy to wait a couple of months to see what the newer releases do to the pricing and see which card offers best price/performance. It will take me a bit to sort my watercooling loop out anyway, happy coincidence :D

Yup, when the custom coolers come out on 290X it will be brilliant no doubt, and if Mantle takes off even better. But I want something now, and ShadowPlay looks good, and I use CUVID with LAV filters for my MediaPortal setup. And I prefer the Nvidia control panel and Geforce Experience over the AMD stuff. So there is more than just performance :).

But 780 OC vs reference card at reference clocks on launch drivers?

I was just comparing what is on offer. I take nothing away from the 290X and it is a good card and when we have the custom cards, I am sure they will be kicking some Nvidia butt.

For out of the box performance, I can see these 780's as a better choice over the 290X but that is just my thoughts and not that of everyone :)

The 780Ti will be alive and kicking by the time we get Custom 290X's

It's easy to drop the price when it's massively overpriced, if they were playing fair we should have titan performance for around £300 and r290 (non x) for around £200, it's only because things have gotten so expensive that it seems a good deal when they cut £100 off a £500 card!

+1

You always need competition...
