** NVIDIA RTX 30 SERIES (3090 / 3080 / 3070) NOW ONLINE AT OcUK **

I've only just looked at this thread... at least Gibbo has given realistic expectations in his original email:

The NVIDIA 3000 series including RTX 3090, 3080 and 3070 are now ONLINE at Overclockers UK for your viewing pleasure.
You cannot place pre-orders yet but you can on the following dates:
- 3090 September 24th 2pm
- 3080 September 17th 2pm
- 3070 October

So cards available in Sept/Oct 3070, 3080 and 3090... it feels like these cards won't be on general sale until next century, with a decade between restocks :p

Speaking on behalf of the 576 people who are getting their pre-orders of MSI 3080 Gaming X Trio cancelled automatically. Is there any chance of us being able to join the pre-order any queue for any other card that might realistically be delivered any time in the coming year? Or a general priority queue for being able to buy any cards that might eventually show up in stock once existing pre-orders are fulfilled? I would personally be willing to buy any 3080, potential 3080 Ti or equivalents for a reasonable price, including more expensive models. We've waited in a queue for an upgrade for around seven months and it feels like getting thrown under the bus at this point.

I have no connection to OCUK but from the statements that have come out it is clear who is to blame for this fiasco and that is that MSI has thrown you under the bus not OCUK. As MSI has killed the card off and there are next to zero 3080's coming into stock OCUK has little option but to refund you all. What little stock is arriving is significantly more expensive than the pre-order prices that people paid and until now OCUK has been upgrading people at the shops cost. With prices going through the roof now and so little stock available they are out of options. Adding everyone onto a even longer list is clearly not going to work either and you could end up in the same situation when another manufacturer kills off a card only to replace it with a similar card at a much higher price. Basically the shop is in a lose/lose situation no matter what they do. The situation is clearly explained in the graphics card section of the forum. See Gibbo's update here.

Yer, even if you're able to play fastest finger first like a pro, or bot, it doesn't even matter any more.

A century is arguably an under-exaggeration. We won't see stock around MSRP until at earliest Q4, but more likely never.

Hey, pastymuncher, you're right. It's not OCUK's fault that the supply was so limited and it's not their call to discontinue an SKU. It would also be unreasonable of me to expect OC UK to eat any of the rising costs associated with any of these changes.

On the other hand we have been placing our trust and money into OC UK to get our orders fulfilled eventually. After a seven month wait we are left with nothing, and ever fewer options to choose from. Pre-orders are locked, the scalper prices are even higher and supply issues seem to keep escalating. I think it would be fair to offer the people who got their orders cancelled first pick of the cards that may eventually appear in stock. Supporting loyal customers would generally be a good PR move.

But there are no cards coming in so you will be waiting forever. Don't you read Gibbo's updates in the graphics card section of the forum? RTX3080 cards are virtually non existant and what does come in seem to be in tiny batches of 5 or less cards. OCUK can't magic them out of thin air and they can't afford to lose a couple hundred pounds per card so the only thing they can do is refund everyone. If you want to complain to someone then complain to MSI as they are the ones who have shafted you and left OCUK in a terrible position with no way for them to resolve it in a positive way, It would seem that there is widespread anger against MSI across many forums so all of you should complain to them and let them know how you feel. Personally I think pre-orders should be banned and retailers should only be selling the stock that they actually have. I have never done a pre-order and never will as there is no guarantee of when or if you will ever get what you have paid for.

There's nothing wrong with waiting as long as it takes. Batches of 5 to 20 cards are also not that bad. We've waited seven months already, I think we know a thing or two about patience.

Pre-orders and queues are also a perfectly valid and probably the best way to get through this situation. If you leave it at random cards appearing in stock for 3 seconds at odd hours of the night, the only people getting cards will be scalping operators who can afford to buy the entire stock and resell it at twice the price.

I suspect the reason they discontinued is because the cards had issues when mining and had to be flashed to Suprim bios to work properly, MSI probably had a lot of complaints from their large mining corporation customers so they stopped making them and just focused on suprims.

My initial guess would be that the profit margins on that model announced during the original release were just too small compared to what they could get on the cards made available later. If they have guaranteed sales on any 30 series card they can put on the market, it makes sense to focus on more expensive models with higher margins. The original cards had to "compete" with the 649 MSRP of the FE models.

Whats the interest on £455,000 for 7 months? Maybe they could afford the price rise?

I find myself force to buy another pc just to get the card I paid for last year. That's...not right. It is what it is but it's not fair. I guess i cancel my card or sell it when it arrives. Won't be here until next December despite buying last June. Madness.
