** NVIDIA RTX 30 SERIES NOW ONLINE AT OVERCLOCKERS UK (3090 / 3080 / 3070) **

I'm of exactly the same opinion as you, almost the same plan too
Yea. It could also be a 4080, will depend on the price at the time and also how much of a loss I make when selling the 3080 which I will do a month or so before new stuff is coming out. £100-£200 is my guess currently. All depends on how well AMD does.

@Gibbo

Can we have some confirmation please

Firstly are the cards on release day the blower version? if so when will the custom cards be released such as the Strix OC 3090

With regards to SLI will there be a new SLI bridge, like a high bandwidth 3rd gen bridge?

Cash allocated for 2 3090s and the new SLI Bridges

Also out of interest, will 2 3080s beat 1 3090? (i know benches are not released, in general terms)

Im thinking it will be the 3090 for me i could prob get by with a 3080 but im currently running my 2080ti on my new samsung g9 5120x1440 and having to turn a lot of settings down to get even half of the 240fps id need to make full use of the monitor

So im of the thinking id rather have possibly overkill than get a card that still doesnt cut it, im still expecting to have to turn down a lot of settings to hit the 240 but i know with 3090 id have to turn less down than i would on the 3080

3080 has no sli at all from what i have seen think that is reserved only for 3090 this time around

Why do you keep equating "blower" with FE? I haven't seen any blower versions of the 3000 series, probably for good reason. Anyway, all the cards listed in OP are custom axial cards, FE is Nvidia store only.

God, I wish I was rich enough to be willing to plop £1400 or more down on products I scarcely understand!

I can answer some:

From Nvidia's site it would appear to be a new bridge

GEFORCE® RTX NVLINK™ BRIDGE
(FOR 30 SERIES PRODUCTS)

A new, smaller connector to link two NVLink SLI-ready 30 Series graphics cards means you can count on super-smooth gameplay and better thermal performance at maximum resolutions with the ultimate visual fidelity.

Available from September 24th

And since the 3090 appears to be only 20% faster than a 3080 then 2 3080s would stomp all over a 1 3090 in games which support SLI but since Nvidia have dropped SLI/NVlink on 3080 cards (for this very reason no doubt) then its an academic question.

Its a shame as I would have gone for two 3080s in SLI.

SLI must have some fundamental difficulty somewhere if NV can't make it work for punters to buy TWO of their GPUs.

Shame, it used to work so well had sli'd 470s, 680s and 970s

No its because they want you to buy the more expensive new single card.

When SLI worked well there were several times that you could buy two lesser mid range cards and SLI them and out perform the top card. Or buy one mid range card and then add a second hand one later to gain that extra performance rather than upgrade to their new top of the range card.

Thats what a lot of people used to do when SLI worked properly in most games. If it was still working now, you would perhaps have people with a single 2080ti buying second hand ones for under £400 to go SLI and have 3090 performance for £400.

Two 3080s in SLI would be around 50% faster than a single 3090 so even when a 4090 came out next year, if it managed to offer another 50% gain (unlikely) then people just woulnt bother upgrading.

Such a shame Nvidia killed off SLI.

Man the price of the 2080ti has plummeted...In all my experience I dont think I have seen such a drop before.
I've seen price drops on the used Market of course, but not this big....An EVGA 2080ti on MM is not getting any sniffs for £499

The difference a new gen card makes.

I bought a 2070S for £475 a few months ago, not sure why, and luckily for me the transaction didn't go through.

That card you mention in the MM (they're now willing to take £480 for it), I would (and I'm sure many others) have bitten his hand off for it at that price.

I've heard speculation theres a somewhat nerfed experimental "nvlinkless" multi gpu protocol that relies on pcie4 they might test out on the lower end cards this gen.

Premise being that the 3090 had to perform with multi gpu should someone want that, lower end cards they just didn't care.

*NB* - completely unsubstantiated rumour but would be very cool if true

Love the look of the Zotac Trinity 3080 but anything that size I’ll need a new case. I think the founders editions will fit in an Air 240 but none of the aib ones.
