** NVIDIA RTX 30 SERIES NOW ONLINE AT OVERCLOCKERS UK (3090 / 3080 / 3070) **

Hi and welcome,

FE = Founders Edition cards made and sold by Nvidia directly.
AIB = Add in Board cards, sold by other companies like EVGA, MSI, Asus etc....

Overclockers UK will sell the AIB cards but not the FE versions.

AIB cards normally (subject to you buying a decent model) have better cooling, quieter and a lot of the time better performance, but this can come at an extra cost (£'s).

You'll need to make sure your PC is up to spec to cope with the new cards, especially the power supply. Can you list your current parts list?

I'll post everything as I'm not sure what parts are relevant.

Asus rog strix b450-f
Ryzen 9 3900x
16 GB RAM 3600 Hz
750+ gold PSU
Adata 512 GB
Cooler Master AiO liquid cpu cooler
2TB HDD
3 corsair fans
144 Hz Red Eagle(?)

I don't fancy OC'ing, I don't think I'll need to. I only play WoW. I just want stability. My PC is 12 years old and runs at about 20 FPS on a good day.

FE is the cards you buy from Nvidia, with the fancy new design. AIB are third parties like Asus, Zotac etc. that use their own coolers etc. If you are not a person who cares about a few percent difference in performance, heat etc. then they are effectively identical to you. The FE version can only be bought from Nvidias stores whilst AIB versions are sold by Overclockers and others. Most people will buy AIB.

Thanks for the reply. I'll be buying a FE in all likelihood, so I'll be on the big refresh race in a couple of days. Say I'm limiting myself to £650, will the 3080 FE > 3070 AiB? I assume so but I know nothing

What's the make and model of the power supply, you've listed 750W Gold, just want to make sure it's a decent brand?

Sorry if this has already been covered (don't really wanna trawl 90+ pages) but if I manage to get a 3090 order in on release day will it be dispatched same day so ill be able to get my greasy mits on it Friday or Saturday after?

You are building that for WoW?

You are correct in that the 3080 will outperform a 3070. It doesn't matter whether it's FE or AIB, the card, the processor, the memory etc. are all the same underneath. Whilst not strictly true, you can just look at FE vs AIB as different window dressing - the house through the window is just the same.

It'll be for other games and activites too As i mentioned, ive had my old PC for 10 years so ill probably be doing the same with this one aswell. It'll cost about 2 grabd for everything, PC, monitor, new mouse + headset. If i keep it like this for 10 years its pretty much a hobby that's cost £16 a month

@Gibbo Can you share any information of any nature at all on stock availability on the 17th? Even a ratio between available vs pre-order against expected/typical supply would be useful. Some of us are working at 2pm on the 17th...

Why are the PNY cards so expensive all of a sudden? They aren't a premium brand. I put them in the same category as Palit and Inno 3d.
Let me guess OCUK have stock of those cards...

I feel like the more we click on the cards , the more clicks are logged - the more the price goes up :) so imho it should be radio silence till 17th

I was thinking the same. Some other suppliers wont do this, but I imagine OCUK will have their loyal supporters who will pay as much as it is - even if cheaper elsewhere and OCUK will be relying on them doing just that.

Also are there any problems with Palit/PNY/Inno3D etc havent they been around for donkeys years - like Gainward etc

My first Nvidia card was Inno and it worked great for over 6 years, and also had a Palit 1070ti which again worked fine. Build was solid and it ran cool. Briefly had a PNY XLR8 2080 and wasn't too impressed with the build quality, and it was fairly loud too, while temps ran much higher than my current Gigabyte 2080.

Thing is Palit and KFA2 only have 2 year warranties.
Imagine paying £1400 for a card with only a 2 year warranty.
*Shudder*
