NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - OFFICIAL PRE-ORDER THREAD!

well 4090 went for asking price 1470 only 4 days ago and I got like 20 offers from different people who offered me a thousand quid, I ignored as couldnt be asked to respond, no one will get a 4090 for a grand, well not now, 4090 still is a cracking top end card, 2nd best from a 5090

Note that when the 3090ti was released I bought that for 1950, when the 4090 was released a year after I bought the 4090 on day one, then I sold my 3090ti for 1050 pounds, now if I sold my 3090ti before the 4090 release I would have got at least 1500, so thats why I sold before 5090 release

I think those who buy a 4090 now will get a good deal for 1500ish, if they want a 5090 then they need to be prepared to spend an extra 1000 pounds

used 4090 £1500
New AIB 5090 £2500
FE 5090 £2000 (if you can manage to bag one on release)
Yea, it's definitely better to sell before the new gen launches if you have a spare card or don't mind waiting.

I don't want to be without a card, and may not be able to get a 5090 FE at all, so have accepted i may lose a bit of money on the resale of the 4090 if I choose to.

I was lucky enough to get a 3080FE at the time but I doubt this will be the case this time. I am doing a SFF build so I’ll need a low profile 5080 ideally which is a bit limiting. I’ll try my luck on the 30th but I’m sure there will be plenty of stock throughout February. I’m getting too old for the whole game of refreshing websites and I certainly won’t buy from a scalper.

It is very tedious, I agree. What I did with the 4090 FE was just have the site as one of the constantly opened sites on my phone. Any time I went to get a drink or to the toilet, etc, I just refreshed the site en route, lol. It paid off after a few months. Will do the same this time, but i'm not doing any more than that.

Based on ‘hidden pricing’ you can find online, I’m expecting the Astral OC to come in at £2,639.99.

That’s a whopping £700 more than the FE.

If it reviews well, I could be game at that price. Maybe… but the FE is very temping for a lot less money.
You know bro as expensive as the astral is gonna be it is the most viewed 5090. The dark horse is the FE if it lives up to the gamers nexus thermal engineers video claim it could be the deciding factor.

I am sure sooner or later i will come across one.

I've never even tried to get an FE before, but I'd REALLY like to get a 5090 FE if I could. I realise that trying to get one (especially with the scalpers and their bots) will be nigh impossible but do we know if they will also go on sale on Nvidia's website at 2pm on launch day?

I lowkey wonder if they trickle out stock to keep demand high and maintain this "special item" status GPUs acquired during the bloody ethereum wars of the inner solar system

Why is everyone going for the Astral? Just for the 4th fan? You can strap one on the back for nowt
It got nothing to with the the 4th fan. I can't speak for anyone else. As expensive as the Astral formerly strix cards have always been like the most expensive I found at least in my experience with the 4xxx series they consistently are the most overclockable, the quietest and the coolest cards. I have owned 4 strix cards. 3 4090 and 4080 strix cards. The build quality is second only to the founders edition and suprim X. And as much as I hate the asus tax and white gpu tax it is the one card out of all the 4xxx series cards if I could only choose one that would be in my setup.

Now just because they might be a fave of mine in the 4xxx series iteration doesn't mean it will be the same in the 5xxx series. But the 3xxx series strix were also pretty decent I thought. I had a strix 3070 and that was my fave card out of all the 3xxx series as I managed to get a very very good card. It clocked so high that it ran like a 3070ti. And when I power limited it to 70/80% it only used 200w which meant it ran cool all the time and so the fan never ever spun up like literally ever. Of course this could be down to I got lucky in the silicone lottery and not reflective of the series as a whole. And as much negative media as Asus gets and rightly so. It the one brand that I have used in the past few years which seems so far has been the best performing and most reliable for me.
