NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - OFFICIAL PRE-ORDER THREAD!

I think there are very few people that will buy the AIBs for ‘whatever cost’. I’m prepared to spend a lot of money, but I’m not prepared to be ripped off.

If I need to wait for a premium card, I will just wait for prices to return towards MSRP. Or, if MSRP is too high, I’ll be ‘priced out’ from feeling it’s a justifiable purchase… and I won’t feel like I have ‘lost out’.

Beautiful. That will be a sizeable jump. What monitor are you going to pair with it?

Yeah, well thats part of the upgrade plan as well! Currently been using 3x DELL Ultrasharp U2415 but using them over Nvidia Surround to produce 5760x1200 - only @ 60hz though.

The Geforce 1080ti has been amazing, it's the Gigabyte Water AIO edition - just missing out on some titles now due to RT being the requirement.

It's really tricky. 1) the FE cards are impossible to get, 2) the entry level cards will suck and have reference PCBs, that sometimes make you question if they will last, and 3) the mid-tier to high-end cards are bonkers money. I think a mid-tier option like the 5090 Gigabyte Gaming OC is the sweet spot (assuming it performs like the 4090 version).

Nice! I've also been intrigued by AIO GPUs, but the prices are just too dear for me to justify. Have you got a new monitor in mind then?

@Absolutely Clueless yeah I think the mid-tier might have the most availability.

With the prices being this high, I’m definitely going to hold out for whichever one(s?) it is that I actually want. If I don’t get one at launch, no biggy, I’ll just get more info from early adopters that will help inform my purchase.
Sensible approach. At least we will have nearly a week to mull over the 5090 review this time.

I'm going to hold out for the 5090 FE. If after 3-4 months I have no luck, I will reconsider if I go AIB or wait for the 6090. The extra £170 to buy a new case (Antex Flux Pro) is just another cost to me choosing an AIB card, unfortunately.

Oooh, I see the MSI cards have been added to OCUK's 5090 listings. I was hoping we'd see some more AIBs pop up there.
It's the Gigabyte Aurus Xtreme Waterforce, or MSI Suprim Liquid OC for me I think (the Asus Astral LC's top mounted pipes will get in the way of my CPU AIO), though I'm pretty sure I'll be looking at around £3k for either :(

My Hyte Y70 case runs my Asus 4090 TUF OC about 10 degrees hotter than my old Panteks Eclipse P500 system, so I'm getting a lot more noise from the GPU fans and no amount of case fan adjustment is pulling it back by more than a few degrees. I suspect it's due to the vertical GPU mounting (looks over performance <ahem>) and CPU bottleneck being removed after upgrading my 5900x to a 9800X3D, which is really letting the 4090 fly.

NVIDIA mandates release times for all board partners and retailers. Depending on region and time zones. If they didn’t stock would sell out even faster and unfairly to the botters (scalpers) and crypto users although nvidia pulled a shady and sold direct to the crypto miners in bulk directly. Creating a 3xxx series worldwide shortage. There is also the minerals needed to make the gpu tripled in price at that time.

My best advice would be to have several sites open and the card you want. The OcUK site is well known for slowing to a crawl for a major release of cpu and gpubreleased due to the extremely high traffic volume. As much as I want to keep my loyalty to OCUK after the 4 series launch. Where the site lagged so much until it went kaput . I didn’t know if I ordered one or 3 cards due to how badly it lagged. Unfortunately on release day my order didn’t even go through due Amazon pay login and payment being on the fritz. Decide what card you want and what your budget limit is before hand. Have a back up card choice just in case the one you want is in low supply and in high demand.

Avoid finance and PayPal if you want it be at the top of the queue and in the first batch. If you are not bothered then go right ahead. But this could drop you to the second batch. This mean you could be waiting 1 day, 1 week, 1 month who knows until the day.

Turn off your phone. Chuck the wife and kids out. Put barbed wire and watchtowers outside your house prefably with trained armed personnel and wait for the 2 pm kick off. I am taking the day off work to get my order in. But that still doesn’t mean I will get one guaranteed.
oh no, i gonna book a day off work too

Gone are the 12AM release time, so I assume all UK retailers are doing a 2pm release time for the 40s?

I just feel there is too much hype and there will be plenty available i.e like the last 40s release

I think there will be plenty of stock but it will still sell out fast. With the scalpers/botters out in force and the AI crew/ companies after the card I can see it selling well

yes i can remember when the 4090 were released, they were available for hours on all big retailers

Then when I checked again at around 5pm they were all gone, sold out everywhere, but it took a few days to re-appear

I think many will pay more for AIB if they see a card in stock, just to be done with it. No more F5 spam on forums, websites, telegram, discord monitoring for weeks and possibly months on end.

Time is money!

Hmm, true. It depends what sort of inflation we’re talking about here.
