NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Whilst I didn't draw the line at the prices being asked for the 5090, I do draw the line at companies taking my money and sitting on it for months in the hopes of getting a card at some point in the future.
It is weird how they can take over £2k+ from each customer without actually giving you anything except a place in a vague queue. That huge amount must earn some good interest for them :)
My biggest concern is that *IF* anything were to happen to any particular company no matter how big they are, chances are all those deposits could get swallowed and we'd lose our cash and get no card.

Whilst I think the queue position information provided elsewhere is great (I'm 46 btw, and have seen the 44, 45 and 47 positions post here), these positions seem to be linearly allocated based on the order times, so I'm not sure they are particularly useful (mine was 16:11, which seems to match those other orderers around me in the queue). Given we've all ordered different cards (mine's the MSI 5090 Suprim SOC Liquid) and supply drops will vary based on make / model... so you could be number 10 in the queue for a 'low' supply card and yet receive yours well after position 200 receives their 'high' supply card.

I think everyone is putting to much importance of their place in the queue, I really don't think it's going to be very useful unless we're also mapping 'product SKU' to all of these queue positions. I have seen posts from just two others ordering the same SKU as me, sitting before my position in the queue, but with no idea what the supply looks like I could be waiting 12 months for all I know.

Don't get me wrong, I love the excitement (my 4090 Tuf is getting long in the tooth lol) - but I think it's not as clear cut as people are assuming...

you know during the 30 series que someone calculated that OCUK had more than 1 million in cash or was it 1.6 mil? from GPU preorders, they then worked out interest earned for that money whilst people who paid, most with credit cards were paying interest from day one, I remember I dropped out after 10 weeks or so because I manage to bag a 3080 via elsewhere, this was 4 years ago

Wow, seems a great biz model :)

If you end up paying credit card interests in order to place a pre-order, then you have other things to worry about and buying a GPU probably shouldn't be on your list.

Lol i'm 185 for my ASUS prime 5080 OC on the other vendor. Like someone said here would be good to know how many are expected.

Didnt get a 1pm update from the other vendor either yet, but going to hazard a guess and say its a similar line to Overclockers

OOOf!!

I was wanting one as it was a good upgrade from a 3080, but making it cost over 1k just takes the **** really. Saying it's a good business decision doesn't make it right and they don't get a free pass because of it.

On the plus side, with little competition, the next generation is likely to be a few years out and also only be a marginal upgrade, meaning your current hardware lasts longer :)

I must've refreshed my order page about 100 times since the promised 1pm update - but still have 'Awaiting despatch date'.
Unless it updates in the next couple of hours, I don't think we'll see it change over the weekend.
