NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Well I preordered from the other site for the white Gigabyte Master Ice 5090, not happy that its £200 over the rrp price and not happy they took the money straight away but its the first time I've seen that card available.
This is the card I was going for too - but took one look at the price and have decided I can struggle on with my lowly 4090 for a couple of years yet. I may or may not change my mind as more reviews are done on VR performance in MSFS, particularly as DLSS4 seems to be working well on previous generation hardware.

Damn, that card would suit my build nicely...

My new-ish 9800x3d build with the 3080 occupying GPU slot while I wait for my 5090 to arrive. I did contemplate one of the white 5090s but the pricing of white models.... so I've got orders in for the TUF and Solid - whichever comes first goes in. I think they both look kinda the same colour-scheme wise and the dark-grey kinda works I guess....

Yep. Mine is an all white build too (my first, and TBH, probably my last), so was specifically after a white 5090. But the price is a significant drag…

At the very least I’m going to wait until the cards are readily available. No way am I spending that kind of money just to join a queue, hopefully by then we’ll have a better idea of what sort of real world uplift we may get in VR.

(I do reserve the right to change my mind at any point though - if a decent overtime trip pops up, I may just do it and splash the cash)!

I thinking more of the pay now we hold it and then we can ask for more if we fancy it a bit sketchy

I do find that part incredibly sketchy.
So they have already taken over £2k out my bank, however when my card is ready for dispatch they will email me and say we need an additional £100-£200 or we cancel your order.

Isn't there some law in regards to this - That once money is taken they have to honour the price?

Was browsing elsewhere and found. 5080 saying delivery in March so ordered thinking I'll sell my 4070ti in the meantime. Then get a notification this morning saying it'll be delivered today. Slight dilemma as now I might have to return it.

This has been gone over several times in this thread already.

You’ve put in a pre-order knowing they don’t have stock. They can cancel at any time. Them asking you for more money puts you in no worse position than if they just decided to cancel your preorder.

If they raise the price, you can cancel. If the arrangement annoys you now and you don’t like them reserving the ability to change the price, then just cancel.

They are going to annoy people by raising prices so they are probably only incentivised to do it if they commercially need to. If they are taking the mick, they will get a bad rep for doing so.

Really, the best solution to avoid situations that you’re not happy with is (i) to not enter into them, or (ii) to exit them when you decide you’re not happy with the arrangement.
