NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

I honestly don't see the appeal in the FE cards, unless you want to watercool them. Aesthetically they look cool, sure. However, the thermals and noise are always worse than similar priced AIBs.

Similar to me in that I had a stock alert in place from a discord group but I literally had my phone in hand and started the process straight away but I was a little unprepared as didn't have my card close to hand for the CVC code and then once I did that but I had to approve in the purchase with my banking app.

All the while I'm thinking oh ffs I bet they've all been sold by the time I get to the end. I was amazed it all went through and I've had my order confirmation and payment authorised emails now as well.
Same happened to me, had to rush upstairs and get my wallet, run back down and fill in my card details. :) , also had to do the Bank authorization.

You can get a 5090FE and a 5080FE for the same price as some AIB 5090's
I guess that can be appealing...

The ASUS TUF OC 5090 I have on pre-order is over £600 more than the FE...
That's a good enough reason for me!

You're both missing my point. You can get an AIB within £100-150 of the FE price that will out perform it in noise and thermals. Up until MSI started scalping their own stock, you could get an AIB at FE MSRP.

Obviously the FE is attractive if you ignore the cheaper AIB options.

It is ‘worse’ but an undervolt should help with the noise / temp issues, if you’re willing to take a hit of a few % performance.

I think the latest AIB drop we had in the UK for 5090s was gaming trios for £3k which is ridiculous.

£150 for a different cooler is not worth it imo
I know GPUs have gone up, but AIB cards with better cooling used to start just £20 more than the FE and that's not even long ago. My 3080 was only £25 more than the FE back then.

£100 - £600 just for a different cooler is insane

Mine will be watercooled like the 4090 FE before it but the FE are generally good cards with very good pcb compared to the reference boards , if you get a good bin then every bit as good as anything Asus or Msi have to offer. If I was keeping it aircooled then would be more inclined with the aib and their bigger coolers but for the price the FE is damn hard to beat even if keeping it aircooled.

Nice to know the FE's do exist.

I stopped watching the alerts because I just don't think I want a FE model anymore. Was already not fully in on it due to my case set up, and the connector woes kinda solidified it. Hopefully the AIBs start moving soon instead.

I get what you're saying. I'm not particularly bothered which 'flavour' of 5090 I get. I picked the TUF OC purely because it had the shortest delivery date during the panic 2 Thursdays ago. It was claimed at 4-7th Feb, whereas all of the <£2000 cards were all 2-12 weeks.

I'd be happier with the FE based on the price... and the fact that the queue for the TUF OC hasn't moved or even given an ETA yet.

That's fair enough, if you don't care about the noise, then obviously it's worth saving money. I pre-ordered the Zotac 5090 Solid. To me, £160 for a quieter, better cooler and a 5 year warranty is worth it.

Looks like there was a 5090FE drop about 90 mins ago (12:20 UTC).
I missed it :(

Yea, 5 or 6 of us managed to get one, there maybe more who haven't come here and said anything yet tho.
Will likely be more today... With the 40 series they manually checked each order and refunded where it was multiple orders to the same address or proof of scalping etc. Then any which were cancelled would be made available again
