you mean the cards that were going for £2.5k a year ago
in fact they are now going for 2.5-3k on a number of sites
Well they were well under 2 grand before ai took off and nvidia stopped making them.

It touched me here......here.....and here. #BumderWhy is the obsession with the 4090 about? Show me on the dolly where the 4090 touched you?
oh i agree, people paying £1700 for a 5080 need their head read, I got mine basically for msrpWe're not on about price but if you want to include that then sure.
And there has been plenty of chances over the course of 2 years to get it at sub 2k
Also i dont want to bash on anyone that has got a 5080, it was upgrade time for that person and you get what is laid out in front of you and go for the best you can afford/justify. I just dont see the pointless bashing on a 4090 that is clearly still 2nd but for some reason some can't get there head around that.oh i agree, people paying £1700 for a 5080 need their head read, I got mine basically for msrp
I don't really see anyone bashing the 4090, but being on a 13900k, in situations where the memory on the 4090 might actually make a difference I would probably be bottlenecking it anyway, so saving over £500 on what I could have gotten a 4090 for even a couple of weeks ago, I'm quite happy with the price/performance of the 5080 at the price I've paid and the resolution and games I play atAlso i dont want to bash on anyone that has got a 5080, it was upgrade time for that person and you get what is laid out in front of you and go for the best you can afford/justify. Jealousy is all i can guess.
Agreed.
The smugness of 4090 owners is getting a bit silly now. Not one of them thought they were buying a GPU that would outdo the next gen's 80-class when they bought their 4090s, just the same as people (like myself) who didn't upgrade at the time. My 3080 was fine until second half of last year when I felt it was time to upgrade. If you had asked on here what GPU to buy, everyone would've said (and did say) "wait for 50 series".
No one knows what the 5090 will bring or when but bear in mind that a large part of the bump from the 3090 to the 4090 was due to a huge reduction in process size from 8nm to 5nm which facilitated a 2.7x increase in transistors and a 50% increase in boost clocks on a slightly smaller die.
That won't be repeated with the 5090.
yeah, and even 3nm is supposedly not a massive improvement over 4nm either, we really are reaching the limits of what is possible with process improvementsMaybe not but we had indications of it. I said this almost a year ago:
Yep.... small process node improvement, no power headroom, and i can't imagine much clock headroom etiher without massive architectural changes. I would be surpsed if the 6090 has a >40% improvement tbh.yeah, and even 3nm is supposedly not a massive improvement over 4nm either, we really are reaching the limits of what is possible with process improvements
I got a second hand 4090 from a popular pre-owned shop with 5 years warranty.I can't get my head around the prices people pay for used GPUs. £1000+ for a used piece of computer hardware with no warranty is utter madness.

Mirrors my thoughts. I've joined the pre-order queue for a 5090 on that basis. Seems to be around double the performance of my 3090ti so should be noticeable and will hopefully lastYep.... small process node improvement, no power headroom, and i can't imagine much clock headroom etiher without massive architectural changes. That will be my thinking for the 6090 coming from a 4090. Around 80-90% faster. That will do me.Mirrors my thoughts. I've joined the pre-order queue for a 5090 on that basis. Seems to be around double the performance of my 3090ti so should be noticeable and will hopefully last
How did we miss this this time? Last time we realised almost immediately yesterday this time we are only noticing a few days after the release embargo.HUB concedes the 5080 should be a 5070.
Makes perfect sense. I don't see 60 percent gains coming from 1 generation any more. Apart from physics increasingly being a problem you've got AI to help plus little competition. I reckon 30ish percent will be what they target now. Just enough to catch the FOMO!That will be my thinking for the 6090 coming from a 4090. Around 80-90% faster. That will do me.

Pure greed from OCUK. Especially when you see the prices everyone else is charging. Why would anyone buy from them in the future? A very short sighted pricing strategy if you ask me.
I shall be doing this as well.. i hope it will align with AMD Zen 6 and get the latest X3D chip to go with itThat will be my thinking for the 6090 coming from a 4090. Around 80-90% faster. That will do me.
