NVidia show off GameWorks effects in Batman Arkham Knight - Impressive

Have to agree with others. The smoke doesn't just look garbage but worse still looks like a copy and paste from other Gameworks titles. This is a problem Nvidia will have to address via more customization.

My concern is, if theres no single card out there today that can run Witcher 3 with Hairworks, and practically requires SLI with a top end card, what will this game run like with its numerous additional game work features?

Copy and paste? Copied and pasted from what?

I have been playing TW3 for around 80 hours now on full settings (including HairWorks) and all post processing on a single Titan X @ 1400P, so this is wrong in a big way.

Hair doesn't look like a l'oreal commercial after it's been through sea water and blood but you don't see the NVIDIA users being so pedantic lol.

Musket smoke.

Next vendor bender remark? ;)

Fast forward this video to 1min 20 secs to see a single musket fire going off and tell me if they are engulfed in smoke lol. There's cannon's in that picture you have up as well.

It's a smoke bomb what do you expect? a little puff of smoke like on the left is the unrealistic one.

The only ones picking faults with GameWorks effects are predictably the most fanatical AMD boys, everyone else sees it as an improvement.

Have a look at the video and then tell me the smoke in Black Flag is not daft before bringing out the Amd card

Oh really? Really? lol. I don't know what's worse the fact you went to the effort or that the game probably wouldn't run on your system anyway. :D. Don't be such a square.

No canons here Shercock :D

I just did that and this smoke effect looks very comparative to what happens when you do a burnout.

Drunkenmaster likely doesn't drive so can be forgiven for not making that comparison :p

Nothing is wrong until you give us your average frame rate, because I have seen Titan X benchmarks with the Witcher 3 and they are not good. Unless you prefer to play at sub 60 a lot of the time.

You can disable it, just like you can any GW library. Which makes the objectional reasoning even more transparent.

"It's rubbish because it'll not likely run well for me".

On that note, *waves*

Again check this video of a single person firing as thats what is happening in the game. Seriously a full line of of muskets firing is a stupid validation as obviously there will be more smoke produced. With all of them firing at one time they just about cover one musket firing with Physx smoke in AC Black Flag.

2:15 and 4:10 to see the actual real life effect.

Coming from a self proclaimed power user i won't reply to your jibe about my machine. I bow down to your obvious greatness master power user.

Pulling that card again

Or maybe the only ones who are saying it looks good are predictably the most fanatical nvidia boys.

I think it looks sweet and will be running with it on.

Well since it has nvidia label on it of course you would say that :p

I like all the other nvidia gameworks effects in batman but the smoke just looks awful, I don't care if it is realistic or not, it doesn't change the fact that it looks **** to my eyes.

Same goes for Lara's hair, not realistic but it looks good.

That is still sub 60 though, that video shown gameplay average with hairworks at around 53-55.

I prefer a minimum of 60 and with hairworks off on my 980ti I can achieve that easily.

You need to get a G-Sync monitor and you will happily sit with sub 60 fps ;) Ohhh and what you prefer isn't what everyone prefers. I am quite happy with sub 60 fps in games like this but want higher frames with games like BF4.

And to those moaning about the smoke, just turn it off. It isn't compulsory to have it running.

The particle explosions look stunning as well and quite surprised nobody has mentioned those.

GPU PhysX for sure.. why else show a on and off comparison.. And yes its way over done..to much like normal fluid and way to dense.. I cannot fathom why a dev would look at this and say yeah thats realistic... Im all for cool effects and eye candy but it has to make some sort of sense..

yeh im not sure why they do that either
like the lapdancing tree's in witcher
if they used them more subtle it might look pretty awesome
hard to know what the deal is without asking the devs i guess :o
