NVIDIA to Unveil GeForce GTX TITAN P at Gamescom

This.

Man up, it's not as if he Tango slapped you.:D

I remember you was actually very civilized and I don't recall you having a dig at anyone who bought one and iirc, told them to enjoy it. You/we choose to spend our disposable income however we want and especially for our hobby (which is what I consider it).

Think I might have thrown just a wee tantrum at the time but it was aimed at Nv, it wasn't aimed personally to anyone.

Even though we don't agree much I remember telling folks to shut it when it got out of hand when aimed personally at anyone that bought Titan and if your one of those manic high poster types that purchase into Titan products and you take offence in a public forum, well considering it's still only a rumour-then you be fudged mate...:p

Talking about prices, with the ten series, I more annoyed at the AIB's for blatantly ignoring the fact that the founders editions are suppose to be $100 and $70 more expensive than the Custom cards.

1080, only £30 cheaper than the founders.

1070, only £20 cheaper than the founders.

My opinion it was a bad idea for NVidia to do what they did with the founders edition, introducing it at $100/$70 higher MSRP, but the way the AIB's have just taken it as an excuse to just bump up the prices.

Of course that coupled with the pound tanking, demand outstripping supply, stores gouging a bit, the prices are just getting silly.

Personally I want a 1070, but I'm having a hard time justifying the £400/450 price tag, Massively not helped by me needing a new monitor, but trying to wait for better than 60hz 4k ones.

Anyway back on topic, bring on the Titan P as it might help the lower cards prices.

Really wouldn't worry about it mate, there's some weird uber sensitivity going on in here :P

Jezus I wander if what you wrote offended people, how those people survive in the real world?

I had more money than sense when I bought my 1080, since then I realized I do not need this yet as only on 1080P (1440P screen used for movies mainly) but later on when I get a pair of 4K screens I will get best single GPU at the time and again use the more money than sense approach :P

Half the time on this forum it's like being back in school. People seem to get insulted rather easy.

Fair enough my post did come across wrong and that wasn't what I was really meaning by it. But you see how fast people are to jump I bet I was reported 10x just then haaa

Yep, if you want the best single GPU Nvidia is only option atm. If AMD had the better card it would be priced accordingly, but we can all also agree that it is Nvidia who have set the recent precedent for high pricing, first with Titan line and now with the large hike on the X80 tier. So I can see it from both points of view.

Hopefully as 16nm matures Nvidia will be kind enough to fleece us a little less. I'm passing on my 1080 now, with a view to going 4K and 1080 Ti later on, I will probably pay silly money to do so as well :P Hopefully the Ti comes in a bit less than what most of us are thinking after the 1080 pricing..

Yep and they've done it because they can, and because there is a demand for the kind of card that can run games at 4k & VR. Not only that but they have underestimated the demand for their cards - constantly out of stock stateside for any variant.

I'm sure AMD will get their product out soon but I doubt it will be any cheaper for the performance while the demand is there.

One thing is for sure, and that is that both companies have a decent future for as far as I can see if the monitor/TV and VR tech keeps progressing at a faster rate than the power increase of the cards themselves.

Before the pound plummeted cheapest 1080 was 525 so £85 cheaper than a flounders?

There were lots of high end aib boards cheaper than flounders. Even ftw cards were 20 cheaper. The only problem is the flounders were bought and paid for before the pound dropped and the aib cards were so slow at coming in, every shipment is twenty quid more expensive.

I was impressed with the aib prices. Only a few like the classified and stupid asus tax cards were over the flounders price.

I've got a g1 on preorder for 530 and ftw for 560.

You never know it might help re adjust prices but I doubt it.

Nvidia are too greedy. They probably seen that they are selling loads of 1080's and may even take this a step further with the titan and ti to see what they can get away with.

I can totally understand why people get annoyed with the price hikes with cards like the Titan. I bought two GTX 480s on release which were the fastest cards from nvidia for £450 each, so £900. This would now only get me one top end gpu from Nvidia ie the Titan. I have basically gone from being able to buy two gpus down to one for the same amount of money. If you look at it like this its a bit of a slap in the face.

I am sure there are allot of pc gamers who can afford to buy one or two titans but just see it as con or not worth the money being asked.

Obviously the Titan has sold and people have bought into the new price bracket but I would honestly think most Titan owners would be happier if they could get two gpus for the price that they paid for one.

Each to their own but my outlook is to acknowledge when I feel as though I have been over charged and not defend it even if I think the product is decent. I paid £565 for my GTX 780 which for the time was a great card but in my mind I had paid about £100 over what previous GTX X80 cards were.

Let's wait and see. This is all just speculation.

well, from what i can remember when the 980ti was released summer 2015 it cost between £599 and £699, it took me over a year to get the courage to buy it at £579 for the extreme amp version, my last card purchase, 980ti Kingpin which was £800 at launch i got for £500 each, so

I think the new titan will not change price even after 18 months

Also the 1080ti will be probably 20% more in price taking it to 700 to 800ish

and the prices wont go down until the new cards come out after that which is 2 years right?

so low earners will have to wait 2 years before we can enjoy the enthusiast gpu's at a affordable price

You are not going to have much luck with a 1070 at 4k anyway, either accept that you are going to need top end card(s) or get a lower resolution. Even a 1080 is not really fast enough for 4k.

This is why I bailed out of PC gaming years ago and bought a PS3 and then a PS4 instead.

I've pre-ordered a Sapphire Nitro 480 OC as a way to get back into PC gaming @ 1080P. I could buy 2 x 1080's today but I simply can't justify the prices these days. Wouldn't say it's got anything to do with how much people are earning, more to do with how much people are generally prepared to pay.

Enthusiasts will always stump up the cash for the latest and greatest but they will reach a point where it will become only the enthusiasts that are prepared to spend that sort of cash, not just those that can afford it.

I have managed to not scratch the itch to buy 2 1080's in holding out for the full fat pascal. Reckon we will see any AIB coolers like what happened with the Titan X? Since that was the 1st time " I think " that nvidia allowed the AIB's to play about with the titan cooler.
