Sure I won't write it off as impossible but Intel got lazy, wasted billions on R&D and spent billions on R&D that they then trickle out in small iterative steps to make as much money from as possible and appear to have completely ignored any possibility AMD might pose a challenge - nVidia so far hasn't stood still and marching on towards next gen architectures while AMD is still playing catch up never mind in a position to leap frog them.

I just grabbed a 290 from members market. Should be a lot less noisier than my 7970 which will go into another machine. It will do me fine until Volta is out. I hope there are some new G-Sync monitors coming out soon. Seems all the old same one's for years now.
Hopefully Dell brings out some nice ones soon. Tried an AOC 4K G-Sync not so long ago and had to send it back as it had dead pixels and it just did not feel like anything special for the price. Mind you, I am also happy to keep what I have. Adaptive Sync is not a must have for me.
Now that Vega is done and dusted, hopefully we get some Volta news

Nvidia don't have to release anything new for a long time now. AMD have seen to royally screwing everyone over. I don't expect to see Volta until mid next year. If Vega was actually worth anything, like at all, Nvidia would have had to come out swinging before the new year.
They may not have to, but I am sure they will just stick to their schedule anyway. Doubt they want to do an Intel.
Don't worry. Navi is coming. I heard people are already boarding that hype train

Hahaha. I love How NVIDIA are painted as villains.. giving AMD fans the option of performance a year before it AMD deliver.
It kind of stings to buy the GTX 1070 now tho given how long its been out. Really annoying position to be in.
I had a 1070 for about 7 months, don't fancy that again. I want something new if I am going to spend a decent chunk of money on it. Wanted that to be Vega, but AMD did not apparently...

Volta wasn't designed with as much focus on the GeForce platform as their previous GPUs anyhow - a lot of the "cost" referred to in that article is about variants of the core that wouldn't be relevant to GeForce anyhow.

I don't mind waiting. My TXP handles everything I play with ease so I'm not in a rush.
As one of the article's comments pointed out, you could interpret his comments to include a Pascal refresh this holiday season. It's still Pascal, after all!
I really hope his "exciting new toys for gamers" spiel isn't more bleddy VR guff (but suspect that's exactly what it is).

This seems to speculate March 2018.
March would put them at 12 months since the release of the 1080 Ti.
So I'd expect March at the very latest tbh. The longest they've ever gone between releases in recent history is 14 months, and that was abnormal.
Kicking myself for not getting the TX Pascal when it launched last year August.
Decided to wait and wait, and wait. Would have been done and dusted with a massive performance improvement.
Now I'm waiting for Volta Titan.
