o2 "confirm" new iPhone in 'weeks'....

Well that case they've lost a sale from me.

I really hope apple keep it the way its been, if they *really* want to make it hard to crack then they would have done already. Plus the V2 BETAs have already been cracked.

I have the money now to buy one, Its just im NOT getting a £35 contract. Get stuffed to that lol.

Apple already did make it harder to crack with the new boot code; it took quite a while for a "clean" hack to come out. The version 2 betas were jail broken pretty quickly, but they were still running on the old boot code and baseband on the v1 hardware.. we have no idea what the v2 iphone will contain.

It'd be nice if they came out on t-mobile.....although really i think i'd like to jailbreak mine every now and then just to the geek excitement etc :)

I too hope they keep the same contract format, if they change to a paper contract I cant see a quater of the people buying it.

If its competitivly priced around £200 - £250 and with a itunes contract, I will be getting one the day its out :D

I dont think O2 is losing out on all these people unlocking their phones, in that post they say they have got 206,000 new contract customers in the last three months, thats a lot for one phone! I think they are making big money off the Data at the minute, people either pay £3 and MB or either opt in for the bolt on at £7.50. Every person I know has now got the O2 bolt on or wasted loads of money on pay and go by going on the internet at £3/MB:p

Apple DOES care if you unlock it because they make the majority of their money from the revenue sharing agreements on the contracts;

But you have to consider that not as many people would be buying iPhones if they couldn't be unlocked so it works both ways.

If they do go to paper contract they'll surely have to release it to multiple networks???

Wont ever happen I'm afraid. O2 are the exclusive carriers - at least for the forseeable future. As mentioned above the revenue-sharing agreement seems to suit both companies. Remember o2 and apple both have their fingers in many pies!

I was personally happy with my contract and just switched it over... some will say I'm a mug and I agree! But it suits me. Each to their own an' all that!

I have to say I've had a number of stressed moments with o2 - mainly due to the incompetence of their staff to keep files updated - but they've always sorted it in the end so they get the benefit of the doubt - for now anyway.

I'm just hoping for another offer like the last one - I bought an iphone for myself and a second one to unlock and sell... made £130 before fees.

As long as I can buy a 3G iPhone and put in my current 02 SIM then I'll be happy.

Here's hoping the 02 site is updated on the day of the keynote with the upgrade details. When the 16GB version launched, it was pretty much unknown for the first few days, with 02 saying you could, Apple reps saying you needed to activate a new SIM.. very much mixed messages.

calm down guys, its just a noob...

:D
Haha! Well I lol'd :p
I look forward to see what the new iPhone looks like - the only thing that puts me off getting the current iPhone is that it's quite large in comparison to my current phone...
