Oblivion Mods

'Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa' is a file not a folder, you dont need to touch that. a folder is what it sits in, in this case the Data folder.

if this texture mod is '1116-Landscape LOD Texture Replacement-TESSource.zip', place that .zip in the data folder, right click the .zip and select 'extract to here' and it will make all the folders and place the files in the correct places.

most should work like that, but some people archive their mods in a data folder and in which case extracting from within the games data folder will result in another data folder.. i.e. data/data/textures such an achive would need to be extracted from the oblivion folder.

my bro's over today and i have some things to do first so i won't be about 'till the late evening. if the zip file is not the one i've mentioned, post the link to where you got it from just so people can advise on installing that specific archive..

to check..

follow the folders 'Oblivion\Data\textures\landscapelod\generated\' and you should find some .dds files there.

edit: i just had to pop back.. i seem to remember something about a ArchiveInvalidation.txt and textures, i'll look into it later tonight but that may trigger someone's memory.

edit2: lol i'm going to get told off soon.. just thought what ArchiveInvalidation.txt is for.. files listed in there (i.e. textures\landscapelod\generated\blah.dds) must tell the game not to use the packed file (in the .bsa) and as such force the game to use the file/s from the folders.. i suspect thats the problem if the install went correctly.

although you won't have that file and i suspect you won't find it easy to make. post here the link to the mod your using, to be sure i get the right one and tonight i'll make the .txt file up to suit.

if that did not work, also try in the games root 'Oblivion\ArchiveInvalidation.txt'
that would also mean each line in the file needs editing to include the data folder
i.e. 'data\textures\landscapelod\generated\60.00.00.32.dds'

one thread said to put it here, another said put it there.. i don't know for sure as i have no way to test it without the problem to cure.

Run the Oblivion Mod Manager tool, or the AutoArchiveInvalidation.exe tool and it will auto-manage that file for you. It simply scans through the data dir and picks out any textures there to be loaded in place of the defaults - might not be perfect, but seems to work okay. The Mod manager is pretty handy, as it informs you of any possible mod conflicts and allows you to modify the load order [in instances of mod conflicts, the last loaded mod takes precedence].

The .txt file does need to be in the root, not the /data/ dir :).
