Oblivion Peformance So Far

On my x1800xt PE i am running the game at 1280x1024 with HDR as the difference between that and bloom is fairly high actually

In lush areas like this one the Fps ran from 32-42 fps usually around the 36 mark! This was when running in HDR mode

In more common areas with less foiliage you can see the frame rate running at 45 to 60 fps dependent on lens flare, foiliage etc again this picture was taken in HDR mode *Note the effect of the sun around the trees as this is where the noticable difference between HDR and bloom become apparent*

In the final picture this is in bloom mode with 6xAA and basically people who say the effect is the same it isnt, it is even more apparent at dusk, however the game runs around the same speed most of the time however it tends to be faster at other points. *Note the effect of the sun around the trees as this is where the noticable difference between HDR and bloom become apparent*

Indoor areas like dungeons run at a very VERY smooth frame rate, well over the 100's at times! these sections are when the game runs at its best and it was practically always over 75 in these sections.

Everything was obviously ran at the highest settings and the gain/loss between HDR and Bloom+AA was really negligable, all in all the HDR does look much MUCH nicer in sections so I have decided to run in that mode!

Any other guys wanting to comment on their results feel free!

Lol probs not, i wasnt gonna buy it but when i was in Morrisons of all places i saw it for 24.99 and thot, No swearing! it its bought! lol! Great game and it looks lurvely! :D

Installing it now. But not holding out much hope for my 1.8Athlon and 6600gt tbh.

Sigh, well its been a while since Ive done a spending spree with OCUK so its about time I paid my forum dues I guess. Will post a performance perspective from a 3 year old machine with new but luke warm gfx card later this weekend.

-------Edit--------
Game seems to rock so far. Plenty fast enough at 1024x768 with draw distance near max. I dont have all the fancy stuff turned on but still looks great. We knew the original Morrowind engine was ineficient when it came out but Oblivion really shows it up.

Suprising. Wasnt expecting my effectively 3 year old machine with new but average gfx card to play it.

HDR for me is unsupported (I have a X850 XT PE). When I click run and go options, the HDR option is fadded out.

Same here...why do Bethesda list the X850XT as the recommended gfx card, only for it to not support one of the features that make the game look better.....idiots.

HDR is supported on x800 series (check out half life -lost coast) but most games use pixel shader 3 and the card has ps2.0b. I wouldnt be surprised if there is a patch or hack since HDR is definately on the cards.

Nothing quite like early morning watching the sun come up over the city. HDR @ 1600x1200

When you look down, its a bit dark for a second.

Same with 6AA+Bloom

I think the reflections off the floor are quite different, but the AA shows as well on curb stones at distance. I prefer the HDR.

The most demanding areas seem to be out walking in the woods, I get an average 52FPS from FRAPS at 1280x1024 all sliders to max with HDR and HQAF on.

You prefer HDR meaning u only run one or the other? This is a benifit of ATI, you can run both simultaneously as opposed to "how its meant to be played" on nvidia where u cant. :p

Guess u dont need it at 1600*1200 as much, but imo its poorly programmed since its not a hardware issue for ATI. If this RPG was multiplayer I may be interested, though I swore never to play another MMORG.

its because it is programmed with MSAA for the Xenos GPU in the Xbox360 and ATI and Nvidia's PC cards dont support MSAA
