Not amazing thats for sure. What's your current rig?

When my PC is complete

Mobo: Asus AN832-SLI Deluxe
CPU: AMD 64 Dualcore 3800+ (May clock this to 2.4Ghz)
Memory: 2x1Gb Corsiar Value
Graphics Card: Geforce 6800GS XXX
Sound Card: A Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS from my current PC.

According to the requirments need this is over whats recommended so I expect to run well with AA turned off.

You can get it for £20 from No competitor talk please! - and no, I wouldnt recommend you buy any hardware from them. Stick to OCUK for that.

its because it is programmed with MSAA for the Xenos GPU in the Xbox360 and ATI and Nvidia's PC cards dont support MSAA

Yes they do. MSAA (Multi Sample Anti Aliasing) has been around on PC since the Geforce 3/4 series.

However, only the latest ATI cards can do HDR+MSAA at the moment. Althought it isnt perfect, IIRC its done in a sort of hackish fashion by utilising the pixel shaders to allow max 4xMSAA+HDR, and there can be noticable artifacts.

Nvidia cards can in theory do HDR+SSAA, though the performance hit would be huge.

it must be more complicated than this as the makers of the games have said that NO graphics card on the PC will be able to use AA + HDR.

I'm running it on an Athlon 3200, 1 gig ram and plain 6800 at 1024 with HDR and it looks great and plays smooth enough. Don't worry about it, it'll run fine.

depends what you call fine, what's one man's pleasure is another man's poison, I'm running o/c'd at just over 3.7 at the moment on a 7800gtx with 2gig ddr2 and sometimes outside, especially when animals are insight (don't know why) my fps drops as low as 10 :( , in general tho outside i'm averaging 30fps, indoors 50fps+.

Agreed there are few posts knocking about with people saying it runs fine on their system when in fact they have below average FPS and this would be unplayable to lots of people including me.

Each to there own I suppose :)

Struggling a little here at 1920 x 1200 on the old dell. Ultra high with what it sets at the beginning. Used some of the tweaks and its playing at 20 fps out in the forest, 30 -40 inside. Hopefully the 7900gtx will give it a kick up the backside on monday.

i wonder if i will get playable framerates in this game on my 6800nu at a rez of 640x480?

can't understand why the game needs so much power. from the screenshots the gfx are no better than farcry or halflife 2.

Yes you will :p

And yes they are

Runs fine here. I have the tree fade @ 40% and everything else maxed.

1680x1050 2xAA 8xAF + bloom. This is on 2.8ghz opteron, 2gig ram and x1900xt @ above xtx speeds.

At the above settings I get about 30fps+- outside in the dense forests and 50fps+- in towns. All on max settings the fps can drop to 21/22 at times outside.

I did some testing with fraps......

Click for comparison shots (450k)

The point where lag becomes annoying is about the 25fps mark. If its above that it seems smooth to me. Unlike other games where 50fps+ is needed.

Just getting away with everything maxed at 1920x1280 and Bloom + 4x (seems better looking than HDR to me?).

Typical outside is 40-50 in the forest but can drop to 20-25 during busy times.

I don't like you any more  :D

Why did I have to go and buy this 20 inch widescreen, I would have been perfectly happy with 1280x1024 but noooo. Oh well I'll have to live with 10fps and amazing looks :p
