Ocuk Bad Company 2/BF3 clan interest

a bfbc2 server from someone like multiplay starts from 12.80 a month http://www.multiplaygameservers.com/game-servers/bc2-bad-company-2/
you can have free mumble with that or half priced ts or vent sure last server i rented we got free on ts.
dead easy to set up and use you also get a basic webspace if someone wanted to use that aswell . you should in theory when bf3 comes out just change game type from bfbc2 .
me personally if your going to do it would go 26-32 man and make it for ocuk mainly. ive seen upto like 15 sometimes on one server together so surely with a bit more organising you could fill a server full of us regular

24/24 server would be better, 32/32 server produces noticeable lag at times compared to a 24/24 server.

I was looking at mutiplay or gameservers whats meant to be the best.
Multiplay servers look really good i can get the following for a Bad Company 2 server:
32 player support
35 mumble slot
de-branding (so no multiplay in are server name)
12 month prepay (20% off) at £162.72p
Not bad at all, infact very good.

overall they are pretty much effortless to maintain same as with any servers though you may get a bit of trouble now and again but on track record id go with them theyre may be cheaper people but thats why they are cheaper.
if you are going to sort a server maybe a poll see who wants what
its gunna be about 20 quid a month which if something is sorted out for donations pretty good between everyone.
the voice coms - if your going to use that which basically i think most would like a chat in game id vote on that aswell cause while some love mumble for instance i cant stand it or vent. youll find this with vent people aswell. so id go with most popular vote if all goes through for eg.

Thats a good idea we need a poll.
As for the cost of the server i was gonna pay the full 12 months upfront. Im not really bothered about donations. But whoever makes the site could always do with donations then its up to them.
Edit: Looking back at some of the post, by the sound of it, some of you aint happy that ill be buying the server??

I'm not majorly interested in clan matches and such but id love a regular large bunch of people to play bc2/bf3 with, at the moment im only playing with 2 different sets or 3 or 4 people, so when they're not on i don't play (Can't play games like this on my own, get bored too quickly)
Tried a 4v4 in BC2 in the past and it definitely wasn't for me, but i assume bf3 will be a lot different to that? If so i may be interested

I would be interested in being a part of this, mainly because it bring everyone together regularly and have a good laugh when playing, like others more of a community rather than a clan
Id be wary of paying for a 12 month BC2 server, it will most likely die off when BF3 come out autumn/winter time

You can transfer it over to BF3 as soon as it comes out.

Just had another read through and i think it would only work as Goon says with OCUK running it and/or appointing admins to run it,
If their good name is going to be used on servers where their reputation is at stake they are not going to allow a few members to run the things, Its a big decision for them to take if they want to move into this sector and would have to be done properly by OCUK as a company
As soon as you start to link a game server with forums of this size and a business your in a potentially massive minefield
Im sure they have said in the past they dont mind us using tags and OCUK in the name and that may be how it continues until Zefan or other admin/employees decide to get involved

They specified that we couldn't run an OcUK clan, but we could use the tags as identification when playing online, therefore, a don or someone higher should be the leading member of an OcUK clan and the only person to show interest from OcUK, is Zefan, so let him sort it out when he's able to.

We had that with FrenchTart, all OcUK members popped on the 32 slot server all the time and it worked well until people begun to get bored of BF:BC2.
Why does it have to be an official Ocuk Clan. Just call it something else as long as we get a great ocuk community going on this whats the problem.
Thats all we really want, is to have are own gaming community/clan.
I doesn't but in that case you are just doing what many of us already do, get your own server with a few friends, post the link up here when you fancy a game and mibbe throw a few reserved slots in for those wearing tags, or even a password posted on the forums
Thankfully most on here play sensible and want to play the games correctly so little in game admin is required
If it doesn't work out or the game dies off you just move on

I thought this thread was about an Official OcUK clan, that's what the majority of people thought when replying, which means that this thread is relatively pointless, as their are plenty of clans around OcUK containing primarily OcUK members, TFU for example.
if you just want a community get a server smack "ocuk community server" in the title and you're done.

keep it simple make a sticky thread in here for ocuk clan or whatever you want to call it and sort a server for us to play in.
some are saying its a minefield but i can see a few who are trying to dictate things and maybe this is cause they have clans already and they just saying it wont work. it will work its easy.
tbh its very easy if i had the monies id set it up now and it would be sorted in about a hrs time. its not hard . as for mine field keep the server mainly for ocuk people dont buy a 1 yr upfront do a month at a time that way if theres lots of hassle you can close it down and just play .
it will only be hassle if people dont run it right and if a single server cant b managed between us lot god help us
