Ocuk Bad Company 2/BF3 clan interest

some are saying its a minefield but i can see a few who are trying to dictate things and maybe this is cause they have clans already and they just saying it wont work. it will work its easy.

tbh its very easy if i had the monies id set it up now and it would be sorted in about a hrs time. its not hard . as for mine field keep the server mainly for ocuk people dont buy a 1 yr upfront do a month at a time that way if theres lots of hassle you can close it down and just play .

it will only be hassle if people dont run it right and if a single server cant b managed between us lot god help us :D

i think the ones saying it will be difficult are the ones who read the title and assumed they were actually going to make a clan, ie training nights, matches, entering leagues, trials for entry/team position, common tactics etc etc.

rather than just a community server.

Thankfully most on here play sensible and want to play the games correctly so little in game admin is required

Thats how to create a community server which a few people run and post on here for people to play on, Your right its very easy to do and shouldn't be a problem

The start of this thread implied a direct tie in, by some, from OCUK and their mods/admin and with all the trimmings Tefal mentioned, which is a massive job
 
ok it just seems certain people who have a clan maybe a bit narfed at this idea ;)

they promote theres but shoot down this idea.

it isnt hard to do at like already said. sorry but the main ones not liking the idea are mainly involved with the same clan. anyways let u get on with it. could have been a simple good idea .

if anyones intrested ill try get a free bfbc2 server call it what u want lol

If thats for me, im no longer in a clan and at no point did i shoot this idea down :cool:

I do have a server with a few friends for BC2 and mumble which i have recently been posting up here to give peeps somewhere to play together, sound familiar?
 
not for you but i think we know what im talking about.

post in here bad idea then bump there thread to top about bfbc2/bf3 lol . like said doesnt matter.

if i can get a server im trying to get call it ocuk or overclockers or whatever people want and they can have what they want on it for nothing. think thats what people wanted in the first place.
 
Managing an actual clan *is* a minefield, especially one that will be semi-officially associated with OcUK.

As Tefal has said, having a community server is a completely different thing and something that is far more manageable.

I think you're better off going with a community server type setup to start with and then see how things go. Managing people in a clan-type setup (especially with no official powers as the clan would be semi 'owned' by OcUK) will be difficult. There's also not many on here that I would see as suitable to do so, either. No offence to anyone but very few 'clanners' I've seen posting on these forums have managed to keep their cool when the faeces has hit the fan.

Ofc this reply is aimed directly at me.... Be a man and name names! Listen I happen to know Bakes the threads OP, he's been on my steam friends for a while, i know first hand he has no experience of running a clan or a server..... On top of that this community is brutal and can shut any1 down….. So all my replies were telling him what to expect!

Great stuff if there is an OcUK clan, we’ve more than enough members in TFU not to worry... But as Giz has pointed out all we're doing is bringing a realistic view on what this thread is trying to achieve. Imo (and take it how you like) having a few clans for the OcUK community gives people a choice… which I think is far better given the size of the community, One question tho…. If an OcUK clan members gets kicked out of the OcUK clan…. Surely OcUK could lose a potential customer, I for one wouldn’t really want to use a company I’ve been rejected from??

For example one person in this thread came on to TFU mumble server and played BC2 with us…. Within 1 week my inbox was flooded with people saying please can you kick him from mumble all we can hear is his voice, which I can say was true, our guys literally felt they could speak because of his over boisterous personality ….. So we asked him to leave….

Tbh DG you’ve got the know how to run a clan, so why not put your name forward and let every1 have a vote on who gets the leader role and so on….. I know you have your gaming forums (which can i remind you are advertised on our clan forums) you could use….. but what difference is dedicated clan forums going to be when every1 in it all ready uses the forum there coming from if you get me?

Surely it would be easier to ask the OcUK staff to create a new sub board where only clan members can view??

i agree who would be in charge of whatever was decided is tricky but everything else is pretty straight forward.

thats why i dont like certain clans already trying to dictate this. yes they may be a ocuk members but by saying no that wont work and then trying to promote there clan on here is a bit meh to me. looks like hey shoot that down then we get more on our servers .

if ocuk did have its own and run by its own respectable people im sure it would be better . some people dont like going onto other people clan servers or may feel intimedated a little or whatever reason. if they already feel a association with ocuk then it may be a lot more easier for them.

hopefully thats easily understood. i get what th others are saying aswell ;)


yeah goon it can be tricky but thats all to do with who would run it. i wouldnt do it i have the experience of running some very big clans but im not a ocuk main guy and i think once something is established then maybe a don or someone should do it or someone whos got some authority on here. i liked the idea but now i see it just probably wont happen. which is a shame.

@Dg: Yeah, I can see where you're coming from though I don't think it's bad for people in clans/clan leader positions to chime in with advice. Some of it will certainly just be trying to help people avoid issues they've had to deal with in the past.

ok how about this someone of the main clans on here puts a server up on bfbc2 for us all to use without there name on it but overclockers in the title and not there clan name.

make it privildge for ocuk members to join . we have a vote on the game type to be played on there maps rotation and so on . theres a start and maybe all round people could be happy with that. maybe have a donate button for that server only and show when the targets been met so obiously they not benefitting from the amount of people donating

could call it OcUK & Friends or something like.

wes is in no way associated with us ;) he left us a long while back.

I personally have no problem what so ever with another ocuk based clan/community starting up. Competition is a good thing. Would love to get some matches set up if it goes that way, win win for both sides :)
 
which clans on here have a bfbc2 server ?

maybe a joint operation then :p

maybe a main head quarters ocuk one and a rush ocuk one

if someone has a empty bfbc2 server not being used it should be simple to adapt .

Because I know how hard it is to set up and maintain a clan, I’m bringing some realism to thread….. You sit there and say how straight forward it is…. Running an independent clan is hard…. Running what this thread is trying to accomplish will be extremely demanding on any1, let alone members who don’t have Don status!!

I’m literally buying a new BC2 server 2nite, I will put OcUK in there, but my clan comes first so will have TFU in the title aswel, Again all my clans servers in the past have always had OcUK in the titles and members are immune from kicking, despite us having 128people on in the beginning still gave this community priority … if no1 else wants to put up their server, use my one, if people want to use it to form an OcUK clan your welcome….

Will post up details 2nite.
 
k maybe to save more arguements what will you play (gametype)papalazaru has a busy headquarters one, how about tfu being the ocuk rush one ?

im not telling you how to run your server just it would benefit you and the community

some like rush some like conquest. maybe a meet in the middle :p

or maybe none of the above. shame how bfbc2 works really as it can be awkward trying to play together and thats the whole point of us trying to do this so we can all have a good laugh on the same servers.

I’d be more than happy to put it on what ever mode people want….. hardcore/normal…. conquest/rush …. Either that or I could just get a SQDM server
