Doesn't the 580 win in 18 out of 20 benchmarks at that res?
I did say some, however didn't realise it was that many - and in those cases not by anywhere near enough to justify an extra £140-60 on a 580.

I've looked at the comparisons, but being that I have had a new game for years, are the games where it (6970) does less well DX11?If those benchmarks are correct the 6970 is, roughly speakng, somwhere in a range of either 10% quicker or 10% slower than a GTX570 depending on which game you look at, so pretty even over all in terms of raw performance
I bought a new 580 for £342 on Sunday.Yes, but the approx £150-£200 saving more than makes up for it - then theres Xfire...
I agree. 570 will clearly overclock better, but 6870 uses less power and may see improvements with future drivers. Both are pretty much equal so far.Quick breakdown from russian site:-
570 vs 6970
1920x1200 AA+AF
Aliens vs Predator
12.3% win for 6970
Crysis
17.6% win for 6970
Dirt2
15.7% win for 570GTX
Metro 2033
12.3% win for 6970
Just Cause2
10.5% win for 570GTX
I make that very close run thing 3 for 6970 and 2 for 570GTX
They are neck and neck.
Considering 570GTX is £40 cheaper.
It aint no champ. It looks like a bit of a lemon.
Its not a fair fight against a 580GTX. As the site says "was generally slightly better than the GeForce GTX 570, but considerably weaker than the flagship GTX 580."
Yes, the 6970 (and GTX 570) are clearly better value than a GTX580. I cannot argue that point. There is less than 5-10% in each benchmark at 2560x1600; at the prices both cards seem to be available for right now, the 6970 seems the best bet, surely 555BUK? Can't find a 580 for that price anywhere, feel free to let me know!
Considering 570GTX is £40 cheaper.
The cheapest I can find the GTX570 is for around £260 excluding delivery.
Is the 570 GTX really £40 cheaper - I've done some pretty rigorous searching and I can't see one selling for £240 delivered (i.e. £40 less than I can get a 6970 delivered from here).
As for people claiming to have bought a 580 for £342 I would be most surprised at that
The cheapest I can find the GTX570 is for around £260 excluding delivery. The HD6970 is available for £280 at launch.
