*****OcUK Benchmark Results from ATI HD 69xx Series*****

Wait for the gaming benchmarks before declaring victory one way or the other. The GTX570 is competetively priced and may just pip the 6970. There's not much other than Heaven results available so far and both cards are neck and neck there.

if i believed most of the posts in this thread i would be thinking my purchase of dual 570's was a terrible one. because i know posts like these are closer the truth, i know it wasn't :)

was just about to order a 6970 but this is putting me off

As of today DPD is unable to guarantee that parcels sent to Scotland, Newcastle and York will be delivered before Christmas.

Is Ocuk going to sort out an alternative method of shipping for us folks up north ?

My god just ran heaven on my 5870 crossfire system and the difference is incredible:

FPS: 59.0
Scores: 1487
Min FPS: 18.2
Max FPS: 149.7

Mine isn't overclocked but even if I did I don't think I'd gain much to compete anywhere near with those results!

The 69xx cards are twice as fast at tessellation so they will make your xfire'd 5870's seem slow in Heaven bench, as would sli'd 470's or 480's, but wait until the proper game benchmarks are out.

Best part about them at this price point, with 2gb memory they even beat the 580gtx in some games at 2560x1600 which is what I run, would seem stupid to do anything other than pick up a 6870 now and perhaps another later on down the line.

If that's real, the 6970 & GTX570 are pretty much equal. I count the 6970 winning 5 tests and the 570 winning 5 at 1920x1200. The choice could come down to pricing, overclocking and red or green preference.

They are using Catalyst 10.11, if there are indeed newer drivers, it could end up faster than the 570 across the board.

I've asked this question a couple of times already... and the answer was basically it wasn't really worth the upgrade... so I've held off...

Sooooo.. without further ado... Nvidia GTX280 -> 6970 worth the upgrade? :D

and just to confuse matters... what about the 6950 in the same equation?

I remember back in October 2009 when I decided to nab an XFX 5850 for just under £200 inc VAT. I was very much attracted by the price:performance and also the efficiency of the thing - it was relatively cool running and not too power hungry. 6 months later I looked back at that purchase and grinned to myself as the price had increased to £230 despite the card being half a year old!

I can see a similar thing happening to these ones. I think it's best to grab them whilst their still hot! Well that's my excuse anyway. I need a powerful graphics card to drive the high resolutions of some of the monitors I test. Well that's my excuse anyway ;). How do you think these will compare to the 5850 and 5870 in terms of power draw and temperature? I'm also undecided on whether to go for the 6950 or 6970 at the moment.

Doesn't the 580 win in 18 out of 20 benchmarks at that resolution, and 74 out of 80 overall? Also most of the 6970 wins are in Crysis which was known to prefer the 5800 cards over GTX480?
