Best game: Minecraft

MC is finally released and is without a doubt the ONLY game I will still be playing this time next year

Batman for being a near perfect release, just a GREAT game in all respects
 
I've been unable to get into Skyrim so far, so for me it'll have to be Terraria.

Don't think I've bought any game this year that I'd be willing to nominate as 'worst'.
 
My opinions

Best console game: Mario Kart 7 on 3DS (just ahead of killzone 3 on the PS3!)

Improved upon the N64 version with better balancing, the cpu players actually use boxes properly instead of randomly getting items to use and the online multiplayer is flawless. The ghost data via streetpass constantly gives me new track records to beat from around the world and the unlocks add something new to the mix. All in all its still the insanely addictive game pretty much anyone can play after an entire 10 seconds of playing it!

Best single player PC game = Skyrim

The scale of the game, the overall graphical approach to it, narrative, music and replayability are all staggeringly good. It improves upon the previous elder scrolls games by finally making archery and magic as easy to use as hack and slash gameplay. Coupled with the none scripted dragon fights which are overall very impressive to the sheer randomness of the game where you can have NPCs turn on you because you accidentally walked into the table and knocked a drink over, just adds to how insanely well made the game really is.

Best multiplayer game on PC = Dungeon defenders

Big change for me here as I only usually view AAA rated games as GOTY worthy, which is a very naive, yet honest view lol. This however is one of the rare titles which is stupidly good on coop and is insanely addictive to boot due to the RPG element to it. Overall a very well thought out game and has a pretty good amount of content. This is the one and only title I WILL be buying DLC for in the months to come.

Worst game this year for me? Brink

Spent £25 on this expecting it to bring something new and unique to the table and really be fun to boot. Turned out to be an extremely dumbed down console game which had a decent idea, yet utterly pathetic execution.
 
For my GOTY, it's a tough decision between Hoard and Dungeon Defenders. The Witcher 2, like it's predecessor, was excellent - but the aforementioned games kept me away from playing pretty much anything else this year.

Hoard is a very simple game, but it can be very competitive. It's the first game that's made me create a Steam account for the missus so we can play coop, and we have both completed the game multiple times.

Terraria also deserves a very honourable mention. It has definitely been a year for indie games!

Can't really say I have a worst GOTY - brink hasn't been played much more than ~10 hours, but there must have been worse games that I simply can't think of as they were so forgettable :p
 
I cant decide on best game tbh, between skyrim, bf3, bastion or to the moon.
Worst game is between da 2 or mw3.

Best = Skyrim followed by fm12 and bf3. Skyrim is the only game ive really really enjoyed this year.

Worst = MW3 how can the same game get released and get worse and still be in best game votes?
 
Best : Skyrim I would say, without a doubt
Worst : Not sure, I havent played anything this year which I would consider to be the worst of the year and I cant really vote for something I havent played.
 
Not sure about the best but the worst for me is a close call between Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising (the actual worst game) and Test Drive Unlimited 2 (the most disappointing game imo!)
 
its between Dues Ex HR and Skyrim for top spot, I think that I enjoyed Deus Ex more though and has left a lasting impression on me so would say that was GOTY for me.

not sure on worse game....I tend to read reviews so that I dont pick up turds, BF3 isnt great at all but I wouldnt call it bad enough to be labelled worst game of 2011.

Worst: Not sure, I don't think i've bought a game this year that i felt was poor, there's probably one there somewhere, i'm sure if i'd have bought MW3 I would probably be saying that though :p

Worst: BF3

It is potentially my favorite game this year and also the worse game this year with the amount of bugs and problem i have had with it.
 
Best - Skyrim - the franchise goes on but it still turned out good

Worst - MW3/Bf3 - i play both still but they are all hype and neither delivered the amazing gaming experience i expected.
 
Best: Unreal Tournament (1999) - Quite a few to list here....Half-Life...Total Annihilation...

Worst: If Brink was truely a GOTY somewhere...then Brink fits in here from what I have seen.

Best - Witcher 2

Worst - IL2 Cliffs of Dover. Ok so the title would go to something like woodcutter simulator but its the worst game I've bought this year.

Also my opinion of il2 cod might change when I get a 6870 :D
