OcUK Dadsnet thread

What's other dads opinions on flu jab / spray in toddlers? My son is 3 and being offered it, I'm not an anti-vaxxer by any means but also don't like the idea of vaccines for everything under the sun. Maybe I'm being old-school as I never had a flu vaccine as a child.

My son who is 5 and my daughter who is now 17 hasn't had them. I do not see the point in a Flu jab unless you are vulnerable.

It is just a way med corps can rinse the NHS with tax payers money. I never had them and haven't had a day off work in 18 years.

I used to love the clocks going back in October before I had a kid but christ how I dread it right now.

4.55am start for us - although judging by the number of parents in the park/cafe at 8am with extremely strong coffees I don’t think we were the only ones.

Ours slept until half 6 this morning but was absolutely dead by half 5 tonight normal bedtime is 7ish. So we'll see when she gets to tomorrow, thankfully I'll be 50 miles away in the office unless she's awake at 0430.

we’re currently in hospital, wife has been induced and has had contractions for the past 6 hours. Its so painful to watch her as there’s nothing i can do to help her.
Congrats! Hope it all goes well
I have no frame of reference, but from what my friends have said to me, it'll be the hardest but most rewarding thing you'll ever do :)

Hopefully she's dilating, my wife was induced spent almost 12 hours suffering contractions but nothing was actually moving, she wasn't best pleased as you can imagine!

Thanks both, she had contractions for 14 hours straight. Thankfully they subsided and she was able to get a few hours sleep. TENS machine helped a load, she said she would highly recommend it along with painkillers to manage the contractions.

Have yet to find out if the contractions actually did anything too as she was induced with the cervical balloon.

Ours was around the same. Wide awake around 5am but was fast asleep in the car about 3pm. Luckily he went to sleep around normal time still.

We kept ours awake till 10pm the night of the clock change.
They slept in till 7am.
Bliss! lol

In other news.
I spent all day, taking my sons "shed" bed down, and built an Ikea bunk bed.

He now has two beds he can choose to sleep in.

Household agreement that I do Sat wake up, wife does Sunday. We agreed this at some point in July and I was already aware of how it would play out went the clocks went back. He woke up at 5:15. I did not :D

Little man has been ill for 2 weeks though and it's wrecked everyone's sleeping pattern anyway. I think we've had 2 full nights in the last 10 days. Usually a rock solid sleeper so it's really kicking my ass. He obviously sneezed in my face at some point to as I'm about a week into the same illness. Lovely snotty cherry on the cake!

Oldest still getting up at 5.15.

Youngest set a trap, 2 days fine after clock change fine, but is now just shouting the house down during the night, then up for a few hours.

Parenting solo today, going to be a long one.

Yeah, feels like our daughter has done the same. Monday was a nice 5.45am improvement over Sunday, then 6am on the Tuesday - today it was immediately back to 5.15 for some reason.

I really do love going into a 9am meeting at work with 4 hours of my day already under my belt.
