We did a mix of both. But like anything you gotta have a bit of discipline otherwise you end up spending a fortune. We just used the premix for 3am emergenciesAll this chat about prepping bottles and boiling water to sterilise the powder... Am I the only muggins that pays extra for ready mixed formula? By some crude maths I did, it's about 80% more expensive than buying powdered, but 1000% more convenient. No boiling water, no tommy tippee machine taking up half the kitchen. We tried powders for a bit but the milk always looks a bit gammy and our son never really liked it as much. It also looked really dodge if put back in the fridge for a couple of hours. I know that's supposed to be a no-no in any situation, but we've always done that with premixed formula and never once had a problem.
We just sterilise the bottles using the plastic microwave sterilisers which are great.

We could start our own youtube review series at this rate.Maybe OCUK, should do a list of required crap and stuff no one needs for new fathers

Oi, this is dadsnet, not mumsnet. We should never aspire to be so organised.Maybe OCUK, should do a list of required crap and stuff no one needs for new fathers
Only around 3 weeks to go until my twins arrive Trying to get the other 3 kids prepared and also get everything else prepared as well, good times! lol
I think I'm going to need it! the first couple of weeks will be a roller coaster as it is with any new life that comes into your family but things will soon settle down and we will get into a routine, slightly different with two though, then again we have done it 3 times already just not two in one go
Oh and yes I am going to have the snip now, it was only suppose to be 4 not 5 kids

Ours in on prescription stuff, which has recently been changed to this stuff.

£11 for 4 x 200ml, glad im not paying for it.
Still goes in the microwave for 30 seconds to warm it up. Its good for 6 hours after opening as well.
Definitely handy though, when out and about just ask for a jug of boiling water. In an emergency and hes starving he will take some of it cold. Surprised he has any though it tastes like sick.

Precisely why we need to unite against our other halves who are so easily guilt tripped into breaking the bank!Oi, this is dadsnet, not mumsnet. We should never aspire to be so organised.
He's sort of half right. He'll soon settle into the state of insanity that will be his life for the next few years.I've had singletons and then twins, you may think you'll know what you're doing but......nope.
"Soon settle down" *snigger* ahem

In that case...Precisely why we need to unite against our other halves who are so easily guilt tripped into breaking the bank!
I'd be happy to update the OP with the consensus on "New dad essentials and things not to bother with"
Yeah, maybe one cute outfit for the first round of "we have a baby" outings, but that's it.In that case...
Don't bother with any fancy clothes or anything that is not essentially a grow for at least the first 6 months! The amount of lovely little outfits we were bought but never used is ridiculous and sad really. Trousers on babies are just a stupid idea. Vest + grow. Done!
Just at Week 30 with twins arriving soon. Got no other kids so no practice runs for either of us! I think we're as well prepared as we can be.Only around 3 weeks to go until my twins arriveTrying to get the other 3 kids prepared and also get everything else prepared as well, good times! lol

Plus you can get a better grip on the front button ones when you child realises they can turn around in bed and kick the hell out of the head board.Oh I'm gonna say this: the little grow suits that button down the sides are inferior to the ones that go down the front and split at the legs. The latter are way easier to change imo
Yeah it goes quickly alright. I still remember my daughter falling asleep on my chest like a little pillow. Now she falls asleep on me like a bag of cement.Everyone always says it, but it never ceases to amaze me how quickly they grow! Nearly 6 months and loving life.
