Some of those comments on the register are typical of people that build a PC themselves for a reason they can't really explain, and then complain when something goes wrong and it takes them ages to get it sorted via RMA because they don't really know what they are doing. I've RMA'd serveral items with absolutely no hassle what so ever. I don't see any issue really. In the old days OCUK were difficult to get through to on the phone for me, but that's massively improved these days and I have never had to wait long to be honest. In fact, I have only needed to phone a few times. Web note system works fine. Free shipping, very competative pricing and deals. I couldn't care less what the owner/s post on the forums, but for a company with such a big forum which generates a lot of business for them, one would think it would react more to views on the way it is moderated.

All seems back to normal:)
Im gonna make an order on thursday, so im just gonna make sure my pc will be safe. Ive updated my windows update, ive installed nod32 i have no fear:)

There would be no need to worry anyway - the attack has been a denial of service so there has never been any question of your details being compromised. The worst thing that could happen to you, would be that you would be unable to access the site.

This is true. Security has never been compromised. Only server uptime. The two are very different.

Sad keyboard warriors I'm afraid. 99% of it is from banned members. 99% of it is pure fiction.

OcUK service has been good for a long time now. The recent addition of the Customer Service Forum demonstrates our commitment to be the best in the business.

I hope you don't let it get to you. It's a simple case where loyal customers vastly outweigh these pathetic liars to superior degree in terms of how comments affect business.

As for people who kick up a fuss from being banned. They should grow up and accept that rules are not bent for them, and this community is the result of a generous investment.

Surely there has been a lot of patching agaisnt DDod attacks and the half syn TCP/IP handshake that used to plague NT 4.0 and others. Are there many zombie machines just bombarding your URL, surely your filewall logs and full of the sending IP addresses even if spoofed or from zombie machines?

Do you know the type of DDoS attack ?

Can anyone confirm if previously blocked IP's have now been allowed access again?

It seems like the IP's that my company uses have been blocked which means that i (along with quite a few thousand others) can't access the forum or shop from work at present.

Maybe theyve cottoned on to you not doin much work so theyve checked your history and ahve seen you go on ocuk all the time :P

The 'traditional' point-to-point SYN flood (as could be used to devastating affect very quickly against NT boxes) isn't a problem today with the modern TCP/IP stacks. However, replace that one PC with a few thousand (or tens of thousands) and any single system is going to buckle. At that point, you have to deploy mitigation techniques (packet inspection, IP blacklists, etc.), as would have happened here.
