OCUK Endomondo Team Thread

2m36 seconds is a time I see for a 1 mile segment of a 60+mile "run". I am assuming someone forgot to change the sport to cycling....
I think the endomondo app defaults to running, so it's an easy enough mistake to make. I'm going to have to work really hard to get off the bottom of these running challenges :)

Apologies if that came as a dig about the running/cycling thing. It wasn't as I recognised who it was so in no way did I think he was trying to be fly (daveski) :p

I realised it was an honest mistake :)

Just requested to join (Andy Harris). I'm a cyclist in training for the London to Brighton off-road in a few weeks. Not used Endomomdo before and I'm liking the routes people can submit; I've just moved house and previously had the New Forest as my training ground which was ideal, but I'm struggling to find much in the way of off-road routes around my new place.

If I could run that far that fast I don't think I would be working in Purchasing! :p

Well done Saundie. I need to get my 5k times down, might be doing a marathon in April now.

No. Endomondo will check for your quickest 1 mile segment through all your runs. The same happens with all the distances i.e. if I do a 1/2 marathon and I get a PB 10K and 5K then it will pull them from there

I have this program now on my MTB, but dont use the PRO version, yet...

is this just like a cycle computer? i.e. is there any point in buying a cycle computer if this is cheaper? obviosly i would need to buy a cycle bracket so i could see it on the move.
Thanks

It does the same things as most cycle computers (with the exception of stuff that needs more sensors, like pedal RPM and heart rate). The main difference is not the data given, but the physical device itself:
-battery life is generally quite poor on phones when using the GPS
-touch screen are harder to use when your cycling (especially if its cold and your wearing gloves)
-its harder to find a good bike mount for your phone.

Thanks Richie.

Joined the 1m challenge and done another 5k shaving about 5 mins off my time, moved up to second last now :D I am really enjoying these challenges.
Damn, now I'm at the bottom of the 5k challenge again! :P

On the plus side, I'm not at the bottom of the 1m challenge any more! Only 3 seconds in it, but damnit, I've only been running 5 weeks! :D

I havent looked in the running challenges for a while, hope I am not at the bottom.

Need to get some running in though as I have a 10k charity run in a couple of weeks.

any of you guys do challenges for mountain biking ?
if not then, I must get a road bike!!

The problem with MTB challenges is that you cant really have a 'fastest X miles' challenge because it would just come down to who has the smoothest, flattest trails to ride on. Similar, but to a lesser extent, with total miles challenges as well. Somebody riding on smooth flat routes (like a canal towpaths or similar) will be able to rack up a lot more miles in the same time as somebody who rides tough, technical routes.

Have you tried Strava? There are MTB segments on that.
