** OcUK EXCLUSIVE: SUPERFLOWER POWER SUPPLIES NOW IN STOCK!! **

Just had a look its in ECO mode, if i flip it into AUTO the Fan makes a nasty grinding noise, i think the PSU itself is fine, it just sounds like the fan is not working as it should.

Will whip it out and box it up to be sent back.

If its a 1000/1300W Gold the last batch of these could have a known fan issue which essentially sounds like a grinding/buzzing fan. Superflower have fixed the issue now, so if yours has this just get it RMA'd. :)

Ok thanks for that Gibbo, yeah its a 1000w Gold, and yep its only the fan, like i say in ECO the fan doesnt spin as the units not getting hot enough i guess, but in AUTO Mode the fan tries to spin and makes a nasty clicking grinding noise, will box it up and send it back tomorrow.

Basket always automatically adds a UK Kettle lead free of charge. Includes US 2 prong and you get the UK one extra.

Basket didn't add the plug in December and neither did the initial invoice. When it was back-ordered and I got the shipping invoice, it is listed on there as 'OcUK Value AT/ATX "Kettle Plug" 2 Meter Mains Cable'. This is an easy way to find if one was automatically added or not.

Fitted my first Superflower PSU today, I think it was the 650w one. The PSU itself seems a nice unit, the cables do seem quite stiff which made cable management quite awkward, plus it felt like it was putting some pressure on the SATA power connectors. Wish it was a modular one but nevermind :)

Came with a UK kettle lead from OCUK too.

I'll do it Super Mario style and get me a Super Flower for my first gaming build.
Yea but which one.. 1300W Gold or 1200W Platinum ? nowhere can i find a review of the latter, so no mean for me to know how they compare to each other ( voltage regulation on the rails, transient response, ripple...)

Specs: oc'ed 4670k - M6Gene - 2x8GB RipJawsX @2400+ - 2x SSD's in Raid0 - 2x HDD's - one watercooling pump - one oc'ed 770, but 2x oc'ed 880's later on - add to that 2x M.2 PciE SSD's and some random PciE card, later on too ( on a future mobo )

Usage: hardcore gaming, single monitor @2600x1440 ( Super Mario all day long )

Now I understand that even a 1200W PSU may be too much for my needs, but I prefer to play it future-proof. Also, I read that the farther from its rated wattage your consumption sits, the better it is (true?). And PSU's having their capacity degrade over time, ..well all that makes me lean toward the 1300W Gold.

But... it seems that 1300W little beast gets somewhat noisy when reaching 900-1000W ( at least that's what I've read ) and I wonder if the Platinum model behaves the same, or if it is a quieter solution. And does it hold a semi-passive mode as well ?

Hope you can shed some light on the matter, would be appreciated. Thank you !

I'm planning on building a mining rig using 6 x 280X. As I will need 2 PSU's is it worth getting the 1200W platinum, or should I just go with the 1300W gold bearing in mind I will need to link 2 PSU's together?

Yeah and they are quite bright... I had to build a separating shelf to hide the lights after I got bored with the prettyness of it.. Damn good psu though
