OcUK GUIDE TO ORDERING YOUR AMD 9070 GRAPHICS CARD TODAY AT 14:00

Due to the unexpectedly lengthy transit time from Hub4 to local depot I initiated a chat in the DPD app - and they advised me that as the parcel had not been scanned in the last 24 hours that a formal investigation should be raised. I now haz a sad.
Further to this, it seems that DPD haven't actually lost the parcel - they just omitted to either log location scans or upload those scans to their system - as "as if by magic" when I checked first thing this morning there are now six new location scans for the parcel, two of which took place on Saturday, then nothing for over two days until there were another four in quick succession just before I posted this yesterday.

Worked it out
The right thing for them to do is send you the card for that price. I'm sure there will be some excuse though!

just be patient, it isn't the covid/mining era when nothing was available, the prices will stabilise and it isn't going to take that long. I am getting 9070xt for around £500, I am sure I won't wait more than a few months.
It will never be 350 but will get cheaper and available
While I'm a pessimist i like it when people are optimistic however there comes a time when you have to start entertaining the idea that this maybe the new normal.

All the while TSMC has full order books prices are not going to come down, and all the while their partners can sell their wafer allocations into higher profit margin sectors prices of GPUs are not going to come down. The fact is gaming GPUs are one of, if not the, lowest profit margin sectors for TSMC's partners, AMD/Intel would much rather manufacture & sell enterprise CPUs, Nvidia would much rather sell enterprise GPUs.

Gaming GPUs are what you manufacture when you've booked wafer allocation and you have to much stock of CPUs and/or enterprise GPUs.

Which'll be scalped straight away I bet.
I dont think scalpers got that many tbh yes we had some on ebay but not 100's
You mean this "We are working with our AIBs to replenish stock at our partners ASAP in the coming days and weeks. MSRP pricing (excluding region specific tariffs and/or taxes) will continue to be **encouraged** beyond today so don't despair.".

Then $600 = 466 + 20% VAT = £559. I doubt that will be the case, but one can hope.

It's not really 100% the scalpers fault. I mean when you get a buyers who are willing to spend £1006 on a "Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT GAMING OC" on ebay... They could have bought the 5070 ti for that. One seller has four of them, sold 2 already at that price.
someone asked him in a thread and he replied yes

Wasnt going to be in yesterday when my 9070xt reaper was supposed to be delivered so i changed delivery to today, and after no notifications today I jumped on DPD chat and apparently its been "damaged" in transit. I got this for MSRP so Im really hoping @Gibbo and the team can get this sorted for me. But im very aware of the stock levels and such. Very annoying spent the morning setting up a new linux setup as moving from nvidia so needed to move from bazzite.
Currently waiting for it to arrive back at OCUK so they can inspect and see if its just the packaging damaged. Fingers crossed it is.

I don't see it happening. As apparently putting on a blog and forum instructions on how to buy is expected behaviour and it's the customer's fault for clicking the purchase option that was working when the site wasn't able to take money due to crashing.

Do you have an OcUK order number?
If the order did go through you will have an OcUK order number.

OcUK does not cancel peoples orders, we have never done this and we always fulfil back orders at ordered price, so if you have an OcUK order number, I shall get CS to confirm it this end and if we did get the order, I shall find out the details. If we did get it and someone this end cancelled it then I shall make sure it is honoured.

Post the OcUK order number as a reply to me and I shall get it looked into. :)

Would this include if the GPU was damaged in transit?

@Gibbo here was my Order Number : ST5714243 that was cancelled.

Order went from "Order Confirmed" to "Order - Undefined" then to "Order - Cancelled"

When in checkout I clicked on Klarna then went back to checkout and compelted this through PayPal, got to the Order Confimration screen on the OCUK website and order showing immediately in my account.

Got in touch with CS and they claim it was cancelled because of Klarna, even though I did not check out with Klarna and it was PayPal and as said before got a Confirmation Email from OCUK and PayPal.

Time will tell, I just refuse to pay more and not because I can't afford it, if that means console gaming only, be it.

They still make good money on consumer GPUs and £500 is still a lot of money for a mid range graphics.

Sure, both AMD and Nvidia would love to mark up all their products with 1000%, like leather jacket managed to do with H100 for example, but we have a choice.

AI GPUs still need to prove they can make money for those investing. At this moment, it's still just a hope of getting all the money back.
