** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

Nice review on the msi. Seems it keeps a nice 70 degrees or so, no doubt while running quiet, lovely :) Overclocking seems to be about 2000-2100ish. Was hoping a bit higher given what founders can achieve but seems to be a bit of a trend. http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/msi-geforce-gtx-1080-gaming-x-8g-review,1.html

Either way no doubt the evga cards should run cool and quiet also, be intresting to see if all them power phases and power connectors help.

too be fair

there is always something due soonish :)

Yup, and to be fair any reasonably modern CPU is excellent, and will be good for years to come.

My last core system upgrade was to this i7-4770k almost 3 years ago. It's still running everything fine. I can see it lasting at least another 1-2 years before I feel the upgrade itch.

Spot on. I have had my 3930K for years now and whilst it is still very capable, I wanted to move over to something newer and shiny. Not sure the 6850K was the best choice but it does what I need, so happy days.

It is a good time to move over.

DDR4 is a lot cheaper now.

Motherboard bios support is a lot better.

Better efficiency in the Broadwell E architecture compared to Sandy Bridge E.

Not sure if it has been mentioned already, but another 2 websites I was just browsing has the MSI 1080 Gaming X cards expected in stock on the 10/6, next friday.

I spoke to one of them on live chat, they were expecting 28 cards but have 38 pre-orders so they are going to have some un happy campers.

Any news from OC'ers with their expected date currently showing the 17th?

Guys looking in the offers forum (top of the forum list) in the GPU thread Gibbo is saying 17th June at the earliest and orders are going to go well into July/Aug to be fulfilled. I'm seriously tempted to get an FE at least to tide me over as I've got a ton of games to play at present and my 980ti goes to my brother in law tomorrow.
