** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

Thing is them extra powers seems to give like NO EXTRA OVERCLOCKING
So far we seen Strix Ichill and MSI gaming. All custom PCB's and not much extra mhz over Fail Edition. Only gain is higher average clock due to lower temperatures..

Lets see what FTW can pull off. Then can decide if its worth the effort...

All the cards will be in the same OC area as the bios is volt locked
its up to custom bios to allow some extra juice ..then the extra power connectors / phases come into action ....

I will have mine on water within hours of it turning up at my house

obviously I will report back

This to be honest. From experience, overclocking for games just isn't worth it. There is always a new title that comes a long and shows your "100% stable " overclock up.

I thought it was just me. Poor OC'ing discipline in finding the max stable. Sometimes it can be a driver update or Game update that is enough to tip it to unstable.

oh, by the way, there is an X34P coming through now - it guarantees 100hz refresh

I did not know this thanks for the heads up :)

i am about to purchase x34 in the next few weeks

Two issues with the new x34P

1. Reps say it might be available to buy BEFORE 2017 so thats at least 7 months

2. the curvature is double what the x34 is. May not suit some people as a lot of people find the curvature of the x34 is enough already.

Well I've gone for the Gigabyte G1 Gaming, couldn't see much to be gained from an extra power connector.

Seem I'm 15th in the queue for it, so with any luck in the first batch whenever it arrives. Ordered at 14:00 ish.

This is why I don't OC on air, if you want stable you have to put the system on water, either with the all out custom route or just use a G10 with AIO, and it is stable 24/7 and it is worth it.

I used to be big into custom water years ago, but its too fiddly, expensive and when you want to upgrade it is even more fiddly. Thank goodness for AIO and brackets.

For those waiting on ftw with quene higher than 24 you gained a space I upgraded to classified ;)

Doesn't help me, im 11th :) Was thinking about classifed (had a 980 Ti Classified)

Does the 1080 Classified have unlocked voltage/are the standard 1080's voltage locked? I know in MSI afterburner you can bump up the voltage, is it just that the voltage is locked above a certain amount?

Same for me. I am building a new X99 system Saturday based around the 6850K chip and my last build was custom water but not anymore. It is a chore to fill and empty and swap bits out. Massive benefits to water but i will be going just AIO for the CPU this time. I don't oc for games either.

Try the G10 bracket with an AIO (OCUK do 120, 240 and 360 AIO's) you will be amazed. At one time when I had 980 SLI, I had 3x 120 AIO's cooling the two GPUs and the CPU, I cannot rate the NZXT G10 enough.

I used to run 120 on 980 Ti and was good for around 55 Degrees under heavy load, switched to a 360 and it went down to 40. TBH either is awesome, just 360 is nicer :D.

Note: If you do use a card with a mid plate you will need a copper shim (25x25x1.5 for 980 die) or maybe a 20x20x1.5 for the new 1080 between the AIO and the die.
