** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

ben @ EVGA can we have some info please.

Yes you said there will be about 50 on the 17th...

So what about people who are 100-150 in the queue?

When can we expect to receive card?

+1 Almost all video reviewers that have been sent these cards for free just generically say it's quiet. When we get an actual video with the fans running and in large white letters saying gaming load we question that though huh?

I feel people question a truthful representation of the fans noise because they probably have the card on order and would rather not hear the truth.

Yup. This video from German site is not perfect but it is first real indication of what each of those cards can be like noise wise and it does not look good for future Strix owners :)

Saying this I have Stix on pre-order from 27th ... so I really would like to get some spot on reviews addressing noise the way Germans do it but improved so all cards are level matched by temperature so we can truly assess which at given operational temperature is the quietest or at least the least annoying.

Tempted to switch to G1 or Inno as both are supposed to be quieter, but then if only Strix can be made similar with a bit of fan curve tuning then I would prefer it for being less prone to coil whine and extras like fan headers plus promised future Aura integration with MB into one app (I am on Hero Alpha MB).

Cheers

Yes there is one site, I think it is guru3D, they just say every card is "silent level"

How often have the FE been coming in stock?

I am just hoping that the EVGA FTW is not going to be batches of 50 every 2 weeks.

Caseking.de site has g1's in stock.

Only problem with ordering there is you have to send it back to Germany if it goes wrong as gigabyte uk wont take anything to do with it for some utterly stupid reason.

I'm in the same boat but with ASUS. They already have my money, they could at least grace me with some form of reliable ETA in return.

Yep, exactly the same boat. Pre-ordered on like the 1st when the ETA was the 3rd.

When I speak to OCUK they just give me vague answers of essentially, 'we don't know'. Like how many they'll be getting of the Asus etc on first batch... not even a ball park figure. I speak to other resellers and they'll happily tell me everything I want to know.

So it's a case of will it be the 17th, will it be the end of June, will it be sometime in July... Just left knowing nothing and they just seem to have gone silent.

So I owned a 980Ti G1 and the 1080 G1 looks to have the exact same cooling. Always remember while the fan noise may be lower, the type & pitch of it + coil whine are major factors on how tolerable it is. I found the 980Ti fan noise very annoying and way higher pitched than even my Noctua fans on max. So I'm betting on the Strix this time around.

Think I'm going to wait until I can get an MSI gaming 1070 ata reasonable price. Absolutely love the twin forzr V on my GTX 980. It is basically silent all the time ( even gaming for ages, the fans are so quiet I can't hear it above my case fans).

Ben might be busy or not wanting too talk too us im seriously ****ed of

1) http://forums.evga.com/m/tm.aspx?m=2493637&fp=1&p=2

And also number

2) https://m.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comme...ilable/?utm_source=mweb_redirect&compact=true

I really really don't want too go near a FE card because I'm worrie about the temps.

But looks like MSI will be having my money now. No information and then seeing stuff like this when you have taken £610 . No thanks

Just to be clear, its OCUK that take the money, and OCUK that posted the 3rd June date when Ben had already been on here saying the 17th was the more likely date for first shipment in to OCUK

and yes it irks me that OCUK take the money as soon as you place an order instead of putting a hold on your CC and actually putting it through when they know they have stock coming in

I ordered the MSI 1080 Gaming X first thing this morning; I just received my "order shipped" email.

I was under the impression OCUK had no stock in at the moment as the first tiny batch of the MSI Gaming X cards had already been depleted to fulfill pre-orders; I better not be getting a returned card or it will be going straight back to OCUK.

EDIT

*Just received a reply from OCUK via webnote; my card is indeed a brand new one - seems they got more stock of the MSI Gaming X 1080 in today. :D

Really ? I ordered my 1080x on Tues and have not heard anything.

I was under the impression Stock might not be available until the end of June

So somebody on that thread it returning his card and never going EVGA again.... because.... the plastic covering is under the screws........... wow ...

"And after I took TWENTY FIVE minutes of getting only most of the plastic off (because all of it is impossible without taking out the screws)

The card doesnt work as it should. It's going back, never getting EVGA."

He is returning his 1080...... because...... the plastic covering is hard to remove.....................

I guess some people have mass OCD when it comes to that stuff. It does seem a bit strange though that the screws are into the plastic as well. If people care that much, its not TOO hard to use an allen key to remove the screwed, and therefor remove the plastic..

That is the most minor problem I can think of really, not sure if he is saying "it does not work properly" as in there is something else wrong, or if the "does not work as it should" is referring to the plastic under the screws.
