OcUK Jonathon Palmer Day - Drive an M3 GTP, Clio CUP, 911, Caterham 7 and more...

So, this is what 6am looks like. Yuck!

Now to relax for a little bit and then get lost finding the circuit, hah.

OMG amazing.

Jp Lm was crazy.

Gibbo had a nice big off at speed, grabbing another gear, misunderstanding the instructor shouting BRAKE!

Dup went up the bank in the caterham :D

Single seaters left!

Epic day

Sadly our team didn't win any overall trophies there were some extremely quick guys in the other teams

Also if you are at all interested in cars or racing you need to do this day

I'll put up some pics and vids later

Was awsome! :D

And guess which of my videos is not present. My massive OFF! :(
Im guess I either broke the video recorder or they removed it, pretty gutted about that as it would have made good watching as that was very very scary going off at those speeds.

My Porsche 911 time, MUHAHAHAAH and several spins. :D :D :D

Guys thanks for turning up!

I shall make a new thread with times and for you to post videos in and stuff.

However I have all the times to do this but I do need your single seater best lap times. Just post them as:-

1. Instructor - 72.7 (DRY LAP)
2. Gibbo - 84.60s
3. Telescopi - 115.70s

Then I can add those as well to the leaderboard

Awesome awesome day.

The single seaters really made it... As pretty much everyone said - I would have paid just for that session let alone all the other great cars! Unfortunately due to my stupidly long legs I didn't have a great time in the JP LM car (still epic!) but the rest was absolutely fantastic. Great to be able to put some faces to names on here - although I have to admit I could have done with our forum names written on our name badges :D

I got 80.306s in the single seaters.

Firstly, thanks for organising this Gibbo.
Secondly, when we going again?

What an awesome day, it was great to put faces to names and meet all you guys and I hope Vix feels better in the morning, such a shame you missed out on the single seater.

I got Darryn - 85.604 in the single seater.

I'd go so far to say that was one of the best days of my life... whether that's poor me or a great recommendation for palmersport... I'll let the reader decide :)

Good job in the single seater James :)

I was gutted after that cone hit and call in... I really started taking on board what the JP-LM instructor had been telling me and was finally commiting properly on the fast corners & linking the slower ones together when the checkered flag came out... :( Ah well... there's always next time :)

Speaking of which... as long as I haven't sunk every penny I can find in to an E92 M3... I'll snap up the chance for another one of these when their season starts up again next year. First website I looked at after watching the videos with the girl was pistonheads, then the bmw configurator... you were right about the devaluation Gibbo, it's shocking! Seems I can get a 2008 with sub 20k on the block in the spec I would want for £30k (wrong side of £65k new... ouch... I would not like to stump for that devaluation!)

For my first "real" track experience... I'm really chuffed with 5th overall... but of course I've got the karting experience + autosolos etc :D

Thank you very much for organising this Gibbo, if this hadn't come up I don't know if I'd ever have experienced it.

Wonderful people too... was great to meet all of you!

Glad you enjoyed it soo much, twas good meeting you too!

That was a proper bummer when you got called in and abit harsh of them taking you out of the car. I thought they pulled you in individually as you had contact, but with both front splitters being bashed it looked more like an off/cones.

But as you said, you had at least 1/2 of the session and are now going to become a poor man in a nice M3 or a poor man with a lot more time at palmersport, I'm in the same boat :D

and...... damn, Dup you be fast, glad those 2 stragglers in the Formula Jag held you up, but you still beat my lap time by 300th :p

'wasn't me who got yanked out, poor guy - they didn't keep me in for very long, checked the wing was ok and let me back out again - I'll have vids up soon :)

I take it the M3 was a big hit? Only had the jags there when I went, I hated them. Gibbo you drove the jags didn't you? M3 light years ahead?

m3 was stunning, we loved it!

Jag JP LM was great but hard to get sat in properly and tough accessing the peddles well. Very quick though and the instruction was perfect before we got in the single seaters.

What an awesome day. Jag LMP and Single seater stood out for me. Keeping your foot in and letting the Aero do its magic, what a strange feeling compared to a road car but tons of fun! I would have loved just a couple more laps without being held up to look up a lap in both of those.

Bad news is, they cut the Caterham banking excursion off my memory stick :( It starts just after I've come back on. Bit disappointed about that, it was a fair slide up there from mile before the corner haha. Still, I got away with it ;)

The instructors were all fantastic, especially Charlie Butler-Henderson (brother to Vicki), I had him 3 times and he was so laid back and personable.

Thanks to Gibbo for setting this up and for everyone else for making the day a special one. Great bunch of people, not a bad way to spend £700 and a Saturday afternoon if you ask me!

Yes the M3 in a different league. Faster, corners better, drifts better, more feedback, simply excellent. On the road they feel heavy, but on track they felt great, not heavy at all. Of course the modifications Palmersport do could have taken quite a bit of weight out the car.

The worse car there now is the 911, its seriously dog poo compared to the other cars and the sooner they scrap them the better. :D

Here is me in Caterham:-

I've got the JP-LM2 working as well, watch it twice and my epic excursion of track at 100+ is not there. :(
So gutted, really wanted to watch where it all went wrong, but they have removed it, but my spin after overtaking someone on the brakes is on film, shall upload that tomorrow though, bed now as 6am start tomorrow.
