OcUK Jonathon Palmer Day - Drive an M3 GTP, Clio CUP, 911, Caterham 7 and more...

I have Puma somethings... not drift cats but very similar.

I can echo what you say - very good, in fact I prefer them to my old sparco booties that cost £120! The OMP stuff I got after that are a bit better... but twice the price of the Pumas!

The pedal feel makes a world of difference... the thinner, more flexible the sole the better...

I got a pair of cheap trainers from go-outdoors for my last track day, just walked round looking for the thinnest / smallest sole. Felt pretty good on track but I wouldn't want to be on my feet in them all day :)

There's a sports direct just down the road so might take a run down tomorrow in-case they have the pumas, they do look better.

My race boots came from TKMaxx of all places. Happened across a pair of Ferrari branded Puma race boots (FIA approved etc) at some daft knockdown price a couple of years back.

Also got a spare pair of Sparco race boots in a 10 if they're any good to anyone. Bit tatty but they'll do the job and it might save someone having to buy a pair.

I have some Puma Vedona iirc, much like the drift cats, but they have started to drop in bits... this is my 3rd pair. Yesterday I went and bought some Adidas Porsche something or other which are similar, but nowhere near as comfortable as the Pumas, ill be fetching both with me.

Be great if they let us loose in our own cars haha. Dry the circuit up a bit. 3.5 hour drive after work tonight, oof! Excited though, even if I do have a bit of a cold.

Not sure whether to take my own lid or not. It's my old motorbike lid, slightly tinted road legal visor but not worn it in a long time. Hmmm. Might just bring it along anyway.

Fair point, but I want bad weather to level the playing field so I don't get left too far behind :D

Hehe... I suck in the wet :( So if it stays wet... I'll just be having fun going sideways rather than aiming for FTD.

How old? If more than 3 years... use theirs! That's the safe lifespan on helmets... it might look fine on the outside but a lot of microcracks form over the years that aren't visible to the naked eye.

I'm definitely bringing mine... I have a huge head, XXXL helmet size for a proper fit... most hire places never have more than XXL (although of course, palmersport aren't "most") + I just don't like wearing multi-use helmets...

I'll have the race suit in the boot as well... it's rather tight, not tight enough to be toooo restrictive, just a little annoying... so I may still choose to wear it over theirs for whatever we're wearing suits for...

I was wondering if we could have a quick blast in our own cars as well :p

Would be interesting to compare times against their fleet.

I feel your pain! Think my head shape is a bit weird as well as I always need XXL

Yeah, think my lid is rather past it. It's been sat unused for many years apart from a couple Karting trips. Always nice to wind up my colleagues with a but of psychological warfare when I turn up with my own lid though, haha.

I'll use one of theirs, medium sized head so shouldn't have any issues. It's a beautiful day here in East Lancshire and quite warm. Hope it's like this tomorrow in Bedford.

Another thought, this ends about 5.30pm. Won't it be really dark by then?

The prize giving starts at 16:40 so all driving should be done by then, isn't fully dark by then.
Or maybe the single seaters have headlamps? :p

Bah early start is crap and knowing easyjet I won't land until after 2230.

Then straight to bed with dreams of racing lines and left foot braking!

Remember, it's a competition and whoever is overall "last" should have their username changed to "Loser" for a week ;)

But seriously, have a brilliant time chaps (if you don't you're possibly dead) and take loads of pictures for the rest of us to gawp at. :)

I won't land in Bedford till after 9pm so straight to bed for me too.

I'm taking my 60D so will get what pics I can :)
