From what I've heard of your previous level of fitness I can't imagine you'd struggle to keep up even if you've just eaten McDonalds every day for two years :p

It's good to know I had such a good rep :)

I was overweight but properly powerful before so I liked climbing, now I'm just overweight plus some.

Going from 5 days a week commuting plus hilly rides at the weekend kept me in good form despite my love of cookies and cake. Suddenly stopping riding at all after a job move but still shovelling in the cake has taken its toll. 12 months of sloth and 2 stone extra padding. :(

Give it a month or two though and I should be ok.

If there's a better meeting/start point then go for it, it's just a question of how the North Manchester folk - me, physichull, etc - get there.

I'm sure we can all sort something out to travel together. I can get a couple of bikes on my roof if needed. If we get Wally to come we could use his spacewagon maybe.

I've RTM'd the OP asking for the poll to be created.

I could do with tying down the date pretty soon personally. Obviously if that's not possible it's fine but I may just not be able to make it :)

Tell her a pro French celebrity rider is coming over and you can't miss it.

Then after the ride tell her he couldn't make it but Platypus did instead.

Voted 20/21, though I'll still need to persuade her indoors!

20/21 works best for me with the routine of having my sprog. If you're not there though I'll cry. :(

You up for any evening rides this week? Trying to get an hour or two in the evenings in if the weather permits and company would be nice. Probably not going up Winter Hill again though. Not yet...

I'm planning on going out this evening for a flat 30 or so. Probably not starting till gone seven, though, so would be coming back in the dark!

I'm up for that if the Mrs doesn't mind. Text me your no again (got Wally's but not yours for some reason) and I'll give you a shout later. Gives me time to nip to Decathlon anyway for some fat man bibs and jerseys. Only one of my old tops fit and that's only just...

Or tell her you're riding with a French Tart. I'm sure that will go down well :p

It's looking like 20th/21st is most likely I guess. I'm going to set my date for the 250 mile ride after this weekend and I guess it'll probably be the 27th/28th based on the results so far.

edit: Somehow I missed that there's a second page of replies

Been for the last two years. Stayed in Puerto Pollenca both times. We are still undecided about where to stay this time. Interesting to see that you stayed to the west of the island, its something we were thinking about. But considering they have resurfaced the Formentor road, we really want to ride that again!

I'll definitely go again at some point when I've got my fitness back. We stayed in Santa Ponza because it was cheap more than anything but if I went again I'd like to do the east side. Doing everything solo got a bit taxing at times (the Mrs doesn't cycle) but on the whole I loved it. That coast road especially is a beautiful ride. From where you hit the coast north of Andratx all the way up to Deia and beyond was just glorious.

It was only a week or so after coming back from there that I stopped cycling. I'd stopped commuting for a while prior due to changing jobs and my weekend rides stopped pretty much after. It was an unintentional last hurrah.

Sorry, missed this post for ages until Frenchy bumped me over Steam!

The 28th June is the Great Manchester Cycle, so can't make those dates, voted for t'others.
